NPC Lives

Post » Mon Jun 27, 2011 1:27 am

I want them to be extreamly detailed. Each one needs to have friends, enemies, and family! They should make journies to visit their friends and family every so often, and have holidays where everyone is traveling!

The cities need to be decorated for holidays too.

I want them to feel very alive.

I don't as going to other towns. As if dragons attacking their village isn't enough. lets venture half way across Skyrim, dodging bandits, Dragons, Bears, etc. etc. But I like the decorated holidays and having feuds with other families.

And the player needs to become good friends with some of them. They can invite the player to come with them on their vacations lol

I always hated how strict NPC schedules were in Oblivion. It just felt so.....cold. I want their schedule to be randomized but in keeping with their character. Like, I wouldn't want say Leyawiin's Countess to go to an Argonian rights party or something. Or an upstanding citizen going to the local Skooma Den.

I chose the last option where some npcs visit other towns.

It would be so cool if you got quests to protect them on their journey.

Extreme, of course. Morrowind NPCs never did anything, and Oblivion NPCs did the same freaking thing at the same freaking time EVERY FREAKING DAY. While it was a massive jump up from Morrowind, I still want to see it go further

Extreme detail is the obvious answer.

I expect at least Oblivion level, though I hope for better. I don't know how realistic "something new every day" is, though. I mean, let's be honest, how often do we do something new each day? It's easy to get caught in a boring monotonous routine. I'd expect most inhabitants of Skyrim to fall into that category.

The have jobs, confirmed ages ago, which is already more in-depth than in oblivion.

Its funny to see how overly hyped people are over things that have not been talked about. Then when the game comes out these are the same people who are going to be calling Todd a liar when he never said or implied anything of the sort of detail people are talking about here.

Isn't this poll a bit obvious, in the sense that everyone will basically pick the same answer?? xD

Ofcourse there was, even daggerfall had those.

As in jobs, it's things that we have not seen in previous TES games, which add to the feeling of NPCs actually have a place in the world.

I was fine with Oblivion-level NPC's, anything else is a bonus, really.

Make them more random. Having them doing stuff like visiting other towns would be great but of course the AI system should clear out ways between towns just so the NPCs doesn't just die.

We know they have professions so at least if it's like in oblivion, they would actually be doing stuff. Not just standing still talking about mudcrabs everyday.

AI is like the one thing I care about. I hope they wont have any "Megaton settlers" in skyrim.
