NPC struggles to pass a certain area

I'm having an odd issue with two of my created NPCs in my house mod. Both are marriageable followers (not sure that makes a difference or it's a coincidence). Anyway, when they get to a certain area in the floor they move along as if their feet are somewhat glued to the floor. They do move, but its kind of a slow process that looks like they have glue on their shoes.



Now I have re-navmeshed the area and checked that out for errors, pathing and finalized. Funny thing is, other NPCs don't seem to have a problem in this area.



Any ideas?

size matters.


in extremes: a cow won't necessariy pass where a chicken will.


if navmesh isn't about as wide as that npc where they need to pass, they'll have a hard time doing it.


might not apply in your case though, since you say they're marriageable.


except if you made marriageable cows of course :-)



edit: yet another one: not sure if that's actually true, but my impression is that, during pathing, there'll be only 1 npc per triangle. in places, where multiple npc's at once had difficulties to pass, it often helped for me to, like, split a couple large triangles into somewhat smaller ones.


the effect again would be though, they'd stand around and think for long periods while pathing, not do slow time shuffles (which is pretty odd, is that really just the animation, or your whole game lagging bad?)

One npc is bit taller than vanilla because he is altmer and I've sized him a bit taller. The other npc is actually bosmer and she's on the short side. The area occupies two level floors but it does have a wide path. It includes stairs and I've navmeshed them the standard way. Now, if I get the npcs to follow me through that area, they do just fine. Maybe I'll try making smaller triangle navmashes.



I knew where you were going with the cow remark......LOL
