NPC's teleport everywhere...

Post » Fri Aug 05, 2011 7:12 pm

I have been having HUGE issues with my NPC's lately. This is all in a custom cell I have made from scratch. It seems that the NPC's teleport all over the place. They rarely walk or move, their preferred form of transportation is simply teleporting... I have packages one them where they have to enter triggers and such, and all of those things fire... the packages complete as if they went to their destinations, but they never do. They just teleport around the immediate area around their 'editor position' and never move very far. The packages and dialog lines all still fire, as if they walk to where they should... I have redone and tweaked the navmesh a lot, but it doesnt seem to help. Does anyone know what is going on? My mod is very hard to play when things happen without NPC's being nearby and when they all just teleport around...

Please someone help me. :P

Did you try it as esm? The "famous" esp navmesh bug can produce such a effect.

Are you talking about where they’re basically standing still, and they will blink out for a second and blink back in a few feet from where they were? They sort of blink their way across the room? If so, I get that too sometimes in my New Bison Steve mod. I can find no errors in any of my navmeshes of my custom cells either. I don’t have any real long, skinny triangles like they say should be avoided. Most are pretty uniform within the areas to navmesh around.

It’s also strange in that it doesn’t happen all the time – it seems completely at random. Sometimes it’s one NPC, sometimes it’s another. Most of the time I can make a new save, exit and reload and it “fixes” itself. Sometimes I can just leave the cell and go back in and it’s fixed.

But I cannot find a single error or something I did wrong that I think might be causing it. I think it’s just a bug with the game.

The consistent way to workaround this game bug is to change your mod to esm before you playtest/release.

Yes that is what happens. However, it always happens to all of my NPC's gurentee'd.

However, it's only in this one cell... In all the other places the NPC's act completely fine...

Is the only solution to esm my mod? I suppose that isn't too bad, though when I play test several times an hour to test changes it could get annoying... Let me go try and see if that even fixes the issue, first.

EDIT: Alright that fixed it. I'll just do that before testing. Thanks guys.
