NPC Voices

I was playing Skyrim recently and started noticing something weird.

When I approached any NPC and discussed a conversation with them, there are two different issues that I noticed:

1) If the NPC is directing their talk at me, I can hear their voices here and there. Not all the dialogue is heard though; granted some NPCs do not voice dialogue while others do.

2) If a prominent NPC, like Aela the Huntress, Jarl Balgruuf, Lydia, or any other continues a conversation with me, their voices are not heard. However, if they direct their talk at someone else, I cannot hear them if I'm looking at them. I have to turn away from the speaking NPC to look at that one person being talked to. The voice appears. But if the retorting NPC talks back, I cannot hear that voice. I must return to the NPC being talked to again.

3) The sounds are fine when it comes to combat. They are fine when relating to dragons, Fus Ro Dah, Thu'ums, and any that's player-related. That's not the issue with me nowadays.

I have to ask. Do I have any issues that is causing Skyrim to end up causing me to look at other NPCs when they're talking in their voices? Or is this common among all players? I am not so sure because a friend of mine, I believe, does not have this issue.
