npcs falling down/dying for no reason?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 12:15 pm

im assuming i must have done something wrong because they just randomly fall down while fighting... and just now i went outside the bravil castle and a guard was laying on the ground? also the npcs will walk into walls sometimes and just keep walking straight into em...

i got OOO/mmm running as well as supreme magicka but other than that all i have are armor/clothing/race mods going so i dunno what i did wrong ..any ideas?

I've heard it on these forums as a zero fatigue bug. Not sure what causes it though, so I too am interested in learning more, and of possible solutions.

Perhaps MMM extra wounding ... try disabling it and rebuild bashed patch (if you use one).

If it happens everywhere to most NPCs it may not be it.

If that is the issue then it could be a mod conflict (as I've not seen that be the case when all by itself) there is a mod by Kuertee that is packaged in with his http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24604 mod called kuertee MMM OnLoadCS disabled hmf effects.esp that attempts to address this (it does in my game anyway).

This is a guess though the best bet is to post your full load order using Wrye Bash if you can.

If your npcs are walking into walls, and you are near water the cause might be MMM - DiverseWaterlife.esp.

The one that was packaged with the last MMM release was bugged, so there's an update listed in the MMM thread, second or third post.

By any chance are you using realistic fatigue? I've had the same thing happen to me a couple of times to guards in the Imperial City, I was trying to figure out what caused it but it didn't happen regularly enough, so I just forgot about it.

im not.. i think it was due to the wounding in mmm.. my npcs were just laying down like they were dead (not all of em but some...) or while i was fighting they would just fall over and get back up lol

thnx for the help guys.. i was having aproblem with crashes btu i think its cause i had gems and gem dust activated...according to boss thats not compatible with a full install of ooo sooo... yea game seems to be running alot better now :) hopefully it holds up =)

And that is not a bug that is feature, them falling down and faking death like that, if you turn away from them, or walk away they usually get back up, also happen whey have low fatique has well. And they start to run away from you,

you must get the waterlife update that is posted in MMM thread, else you will have problems ..

As I recall that feature is problematic when combined with other mods that have the NPCs try to heal themselves and they would be caught in a loop of constantly healing themselves and never able to spamming spells. Then also with the Wrye Bash power exhaustion that would make Orcs cast their beserk like power repeatedly and about the second cast for me always resulted in a ctd.

Then I think also the effect of the low fatigue drain can be exacerbated by Realist Fatigue.

Don't get me wrong I love the extra wounding mod - but isn't the issue that it also causes NPCs to be spawned with less than normal health and fatigue (like they come pre-wounded) which then causes the odd behavior of collapsing without provocation. Kuertee's extra esp then removes them from spawning like that but allows the extra wounding other features to work.

I could be wrong about this though. I think I may not have it all right, but do know that Kuertee's mod allowed me to use MMM extra wounding and and other mods like his battle fatigues.

With vanilla content rarely was it an issue either, but with some mods where an entire dungeon full of NPCs would spawn at half health that was tiring.
