Is that there one of the secret nuclear missile launch area's that are scattered around in various places? If you look around buildings like that the walls are all crumbled and look like theyve been broken down by the exhaust fire from the missile. This must be a part of the history of Fallout how this all started so I figured I'd post it here.

Any background on these places?

Surely another country right? Back in 2077 is when these things were used so I mean I'm just speculating since I've found a bunch of these but couldnt get inside em and thats the bottom area where it housed the missile I'm assuming since I didnt posta shot of the ceiling/roof where there was another one of those gate/door things so I'm guaessing is that the bottom is where it was built or something but then lifted up ready to get launched which is why the roof has one as well. If it's not then I'd like to know what the place is because this has fascinated me now.

Its a Fort between the Satelite Relays in the north east of the map, where you can fire the ICBM and the place you are talking about is Fort uhhh dunno, but it is occupied by talon company isn't it? If it is the same fort, than I did not found anything there about missle control or something, but I too do believe that it is a Silo, although, the thing is a bit small.

Looks like a regular missile launch facility. The ICBM wouldn't fit into that. At least, i don't think it would.

a missile back in the fifties would require a much larger space, modern ICBMs could probably fit that...

Wouldn't fit an older model ICBM, but a minuteman would probably fit in there.

Yeah I forgot the name it mightve been fort constantine I'm not sure but it's heavily guarded with snipers and missile launchers and robots and stuff. Yeah I was unsure too if an ICBM could fit in there but it'd be too small for the old ICBM's. Modern Trident ICBM's could easily fit in there though since they have no fins and it's more of a cylinder.

dunno if this is spoilers or whatnot...

there is about 2 missile silo bases in the game, one that Talon Mercs hold (Fort Bannister) and another that BOS Outcasts hold (Constantine).

Assume the Lore forum is a Spoiled forum. It's there to debate the ins and outs of the game world, what really happened, why X did Y, and so on; so discussions there will reference quest completion events, either as the topic itself or as an argument in support of a point about something else.

There we go, thats another one from the same place as the first facility except its above ground, thats the top gate that would be opened for the ICBM, and seeing how big it is now I can easily see one being made there. That other screenshots didnt emphasize it's size.

edit: also it wasnt fort constantine, although that had one there too this one was somewhat near littlelamplight I think it started with a B

spoiler maybe.

In one of the 3 Sat Com Arrays. If you go through the terminals in the complex, it will talk about a Tactical Missle Array in orbit around earth. You can activate it on the way up to the top of the dish. You cannot change its target (or I haven't been able to) but if you activate it...It will fire around the arrays blowing up alot of stuff....No nuclear fall out though. maybe just regular missles.

That's Fort Bannister. You'd think it'd be an easy name to remember but... it's not.

there is another one in Wheaton Armory, the underground silo doors are not fully closed and the place is flooded with radiation.
i would guess there was a malfunction in when it was suppsoed to be launched and the core(s) were exposed or something

ps. used 20 rad-aways going down to the bottom and up again :P

The ICBM that you can launch doesnt go anywhere, it just doesnt work and the computers explode. I have been to an ICBM silo and the missile i saw would have fit in that silo and the missile was made in the 50s or 60s.

The Satellite Array, Missle Launcher....launches pretty much around the sat com arrays, I would guess (from the top of the dish, I looked and saw the explosions) about 3-5 minutes walking in each direction. Its kinda cool, but Not an as big explosion, even altogether as the Megaton explosion.....Its more like a mini nuke, but multiple ones....which to my knowledge doesn't Hit anything of note....Though what I noticed later on in the game is that the enclave try to take over the sat com arrays.....So maybe you can use the bombs to blow up there new camps?, I dunno

I thought the mini nuke type things triggered in the sat array was sposed to be a easter egg of sorts from the Van Buren thing

Couldve been. It's an odd sort of thing which happens with that since they are the mininukes. They couldve been experimental ones for testing purposes still not ready for combat but who knows.

Umm, it sure seems to me that the ICBM works as advertised. You hear the warning sirens and then the whole building shakes from the rocket motor during the launch. Yes, the computers all short circuit afterwards (probably from old age and the shaking from the launch). What is your evidence that the missile does not actually go anywhere?
