Nuclear Transport

Post » Sun May 16, 2010 5:46 am

I noticed that when cars and buses explode near you, there is a radiation spike.

I thought it was because a hydrant was destroyed in the explosion. But hydrants are not always there.

Are the the cars and buses nuclear powered? :o

I know fossil fuel is not easy to get in the pre 2077 times but nuclear powered cars is extreme.

So are the cars and buses nuclear powered or a hybrid of nuclear and electric? Or another kind of power. Like fusion and nuclear.

They are definately nuclear somewhere.

Not surprising really in a world with nearly every foodstuff is nuclear themed. And they make Nuka Cola Quantum, a drink with a isotope in it.

First, why the hell would a hydrant explode???? Second, yes they were nuclear powered. If I'm not mistaken, some of the old billboards have adds for cars and imply this.

You hit the nail on the head right there. The Pre-war Fallout world was as such: "This is the Atomic Age! Where Nuclear energy is not only safe, clean, and reliable, its also your friend! Its everywhere!"

There were many cars that still ran on fuel however, but it seems that towards the war, with gas prises exceding the capabilities of even fairly wealthy Americans (counting for inflation too) and with the 1950s mindset of "glorious Nuclear power", many cars with created with mini-nuclear fission powered engines or possibly a larger equivalent of the fission battery.

Hydrants explode if they get caught in other explosions. Like grenades, big guns or exploding nuclear cars and transport, lol.

Thank you everyone. :)

Nuclear powered transport, freaky.

Prewar 2077 is the ulimate atomic age, lol.

It's a little known fact that the Great War was not the result of Chinese aggression, but a six-car pile-up on Rte 66 triggering automated defense systems.

Car maintinence would be hard, lol.

Mechanic. So Mr Song, come for your MOT.
Song. Yes.
Well get behind that lead partition and lock the door and put on the radiation suit and take some rad x, and radaway if you need it. I will put on my advanced radiation suit and I will look under the hood!

Now I know that the transport is all nuclear I keep getting the urge to blow up cars etc so I can make mushroom cloud explosions, lol.

My thoughts exactly. The death rate in car wrecks must of had a huge spike after the release of Corvegas.

Yes, most cars were nuclear powered. Running on the kind of fuel that detonates catastrophically if hit by a couple of bullets.

If you look back at the original games, and some back ground you'll find out that very very few nuclear powered cars where made. They also ran of fusion power not fisson so where much much better in reguard to safely and nuclear waste. They also didn't blow up, that was the stupidest idea gamesas came up with. they had whole towns in FO 1 that used car chassis as walls. you also have to realize that all those parts would have been long scavanged to give power to the towns in the 200 years since the bombs dropped.

Exactly, I've thought that a nuke won't blow up if you shoot it, it has to be detonated. What is it exactly about the cars that makes them blow up if shot? If there is a scientific explanation and not just to make it fun in the game

There aren't that many if you think about it. Compare how many cars actually exist in DC and compare how many Nuclear cars you find, there aren't many.
