Nudity without six?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:24 am

I had watched a scene in The Witcher 3 where the alternate PC was basically just sitting in a bath house just chatting away with a couple other women. All where completely topless ... which of course makes perfect sense considering they were in a steaming hot bath house. One of the women was even elderly and completely topless. Didn't look that great but again, it just made perfect sense. No six, no flirting and anything suggestive, just nudity where it made perfect sense to be there.

I've read others saying here that they wish there wasn't any 'painted on' underwear in this game. That when they strip someone to loot their body that it leaves a completely nvde body. Personally I have no problem with the underwear being on in this case sense as I can't imagine why I would take the underwear off a corpse.

Anyway there are times in the FO games where being naked would make sense. Say for example the strippers in FONV. But would anyone really want that or need that?

Personally I kind of like it the way it is, or if there was nudity at least the option to have the 'painted underwear'. It's just that the bath house scene just seemed so natural and made so much sense that it would have just been awkward to have seen all the women wearing towels ... just because.

i dont care if people are naked where it would make sense, but as long as a lot of cultures treat nudity like something horrible it wont happen. i would much prefer that the clean, painted on underwear that was usually more than the stuff i just removed was gone tho, maybe have something that might actually be underneath that raider armour instead

It's not so much the taking off of the underwear as it appearing in places it wouldn't logically be, like you said. Taking the prosttute outfits or raider outfits off of bodies results in them wearing more clothing than they had on before.

Nudity and sixuality are two different things; we tend to lump them together here in the US, but many other cultures don't.

ETA: Daggerfall and Battlespire had nudity with a toggle to turn it off.

yep you can tell from the nudity in a game if the design team was european or not and i believe the witchers team were mostly eurpeans

i do not think we will see alot of that in FO 4 i serious doubt it

but rejoice i can guarantee you that as soon the creation kit comes out within a week you will be able to see the dirst body mods come out and with in a year you will have 3 or 4 different ones to choose from

and all optional

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is mostly developed by Europeans where nudity and six really is not a problem. CD Projekt RED is in Poland.

In the age of internet, I don't understand why would anyone right in the head want nudity for the sake of nudity. Every time it feels forced (which is most of the times) I'm killed by a critical cringe; not just by the infantility of it, but by how unnatural it looks :P

The default t-shirts in past games was a bit much and I hope we don't see them again. I'm indifferent to default bikini tops, and can take them or leave them, but let's keep the drawers.

That thread is about six. This thread has nothing to do with six.

One thing I'll never understand is why people lump violence and six the same thing or at least six being something along the same spectrum as violence but in the further end when they are 2 completely different things.

I'm [censored] tired of reading that "argument" over and over.

Why would you want to be put in an aroused state while you're playing your Fallout or other adventure videogames for that matter?
If the objective of the game were to put you in that state then well done but that's not what Fallout is about.

Ah screw it. That "violence is ok but six iz knot durrrr...." argument is gonna pop up either way without any of the users bothering to ACTUALLY READ what the topic is about.

Well this topic is not about six, and that's all you talked about. So thanks for the example I guess.

So you are telling me that violence and killing people is more acceptable than nudity and six? That something natural and a way to produce more human beings should not be accepted? Or even more looked upon, but killing a human being or even a animal is a better way? This is why some people put violence and six together especially Europeans who have already suffered from hundreds of wars for thousands of years.

I do not get aroused when I play video games that have nudity and six.

No problem.

I'm saying shooting someone is the face isn't the same as sticking it in someone but people seem to think they are.

Just like Spielberg =/= Tarantino =/= Bay, Beth =/= CDPR =/= Rockstar. Just because CDPR is doing certain things in Witcher, and Rockstar does certain things in their games, that doesn't mean Bethesda doesn't have their own particular style. There wasn't any nudity in Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, or Skyrim. Beth isn't an "edgy", push-the-envelope company.

(oh, and INB4 yet another endless round-and-forth of debating North American social mores re: "why is violence ok, but not six". Whoops, too late. )

In my personal opinion, the best would be to have underwear like another clothing item, so that if you loot a corpse's armor/outfit they will have underwear on, but if you play an individual who for some reason (sick? gross? doesn't care about hygiene? intend to sell it?) wants another person's underwear or if you really want to humiliate your enemy, you can remove it and they'll be naked. And if your character wants to bathe they don't have to do that in their underwear.

And of course there should be different sets of underwear in the game, so you can change it. Also, if a female raider or some other individual who couldn't care less runs around without a bra, why shouldn't they be able to?

But, we don't live in a cultural vacuum and anyone who puts nudity in their game for whatever perfectly reasonable reason might be misjudged as doing it for some other reason.

Given how Bethesda games have a tendency to have permacorpses sometimes, I don't want to see Boston become Dongston please.

You know, nudity doesn't translate to one definitely being aroused, either. :ooo:

Oh and btw, I don't like the idea of nudity as something edgy or arty (artsy?) A naked person is a naked person. It doesn't enhance the artistic qualities of someone's work in the slightest.

That's kind of where I was with the bath house scene. There was nudity, but it wasn't necessarily sixual or for arousal. It was just there because it made sense.

Eh, I just meant "edgy" as in pushing against the general boundaries of society, not being "arty", or better, or more valid. For better or worse, the general public sees games as "kids stuff" (just like animation), and the general public also gets all Won't Someone Think Of The Children? about nudity (re: that Janet Jackson Superbowl idiocy. Or the GTA Hot Coffee idiocy. Or the "Mass Effect is an interactive porm simulator" idiocy. :wallbash: )

Bethesda doesn't really have that "courts controversy" rep, so I don't imagine them doing it here.

Oh and also: it was not a bath house, it was a SAUNA. And they were over-dressed for it. You're supposed to be completely naked in a sauna.

I'm sure it made the scene feel more organic and not forced.

I just hope there are actual toes this time! It was there in Skyrim, but FO3 was disgusting. Can't have open toes. Foot nudity :ooo:

There is nothing wrong with nudity as presented by the OP.

A nipble being worse than extreme gore and violence is laughable. Oh my silly NA, why are you decades behind on sixuality?

Euro developers or gamers wouldn't even glance at such trivial matters. Maybe in a few decades 'Merica will catch up.
