Nuka Cola Vending machine: Dumb Design?

Post » Fri Dec 11, 2015 8:45 am

This is one of those minor changes that has bugged me from the very beginning. Does anyone else think that the new Nuka Cola vending machine design makes no sense to the degree it irritates you every time you see it? It's like a mini fridge that can hold 4 sodas; only the size of a fridge. How does this make sense as a vending machine?

What was wrong with the previous design?

When functioning, you would put in some money and a bottle of cola would drop down into the little section you can open.

The rest of the container is a fridge for holding dozens of colas.
Machines like this exist in our world.

A change that serves no purpose. Along with first aid kits.

.....do some research before complaining next time.

People find the most inane things to [censored] about, even more amusing when they're completely wrong about their complaints in the first place.

I'm glad someone explained these because I always thought it seemed nonsensical myself, not annoyed, but it made me chuckle. But now I know and knowing is half the battle.

So how many more left up in there tho...I need my nuka cherry.

As mentioned above, soda machines used to look like this. The couple bottles visible up front are dispensed from a big refrigerated area in back and funneled down by mechanical doors that would open and dlet a couple drop through to the viewable window. Really very traditional.

Unlike actual Coca Cola, though, which used to contain small amounts of cocaine, Nuka Cola presumably contains fissile material...

Yes, it irritates me that I can visually see the sodas in the machine as opposed to a generic loot window.

I'm fine with the new Nuka-Cola machines. At least you can get more than one bottle from some machines.

The machine I want to see actually WORK is that glass-domed thing that tries to pick up a slice of pie like a skill crane, but fails every single time. Dammit, I want pie.

I liked the old style better....probably would be easier to use them in settlements....frustrating when you can't put them up against a wall.

I'm just sad that the milk machines don't give us Exquisitely Aged Radcheese.

The thing I don't like about the design is that it relies on the honor system. A customer pays for one and the door opens and there's 2 or 3 there available to be taken. How many corporations would trust all their customers to take the ONE -- and only the one -- that they paid for?

Wait a Tic..

if those Cola machines were ONLY dispensing thru that small glass door, then why don't we ever find one that is actually fully open exposing dozens of delicious soda??

That kind of stuff was a big deal back in the 50's. There used to be restaurant type places that were just wall's of little doors with different foods in them. You'd put your quarter or whatever in, open the door, and take your food. Google automat if your curious
