Number of Companions

I'm playing the GotY edition on my laptop. I have been traveling with Fawkes. I just picked up Dogmeat. Did the GotY edition change things? Last time I played you could have only one companion at a time. I'm worried I found a glitch that may cause future problems. The only mod I'm running is Better Caravans.

officially you can have 1 follower + dogmeat.

Unofficially you can have I believe it was upwards to 13 via glitches in the companion firing scripts.

OK, no probs then. Thanks. I'll explore, and let them kill everything. Character is 30th so exp no longer matters.

I don`t like having too many companions. One at a time is manageable for me. And I don`t feel like they`re doing all the work.

However, I also bought the GOTY version recently and apart from the radio GNR bug a lot has been fixed\improved. For instance some quests that didn`t quite make sense before because certain triggers did not act (unknown to me), now work properly so I`m seeing a lot of new stuff, especially random encounters.

Also, having more than one companion means that when you enter a building, everyone bunches up at the door, and you have to "fight" your way to the front of the line. I can't tell you how many times I have to jump over my damn dog and get around Jericho just to get going.

I already have that problem with Fawkes (getting in the way). I make him wait outside. The same will happen with Dogmeat. They are there to take out the never ending albino radscorpions. My character is out to explore and map the whole of the wasteland. Those two will keep off the riff raff while he maps. Do they follow you into the Pitt or PL? I haven't been to those yet. I completed MZ and OA before I got Fawkes.

They won't follow you to those places, even if you tell them to wait, they will return to their respective start points, and you can go get them after you're done. Every time you return to PL and the Pitt, they always go back.

Thanks!

As I'm crawling along the north edge of the map, the Pitt should be next.
