Number 1 Concern I'm Seeing: Bullets to Kill

Post » Wed Sep 15, 2010 3:23 pm

being literal though how long should a firefight be, how deadly in your opinion should bullets be so that it stays exciting and an action game with out becoming a strategy game

In a one-on-one situation with no interference, 1-5 seconds is how long any skill testing, exciting FIRE-FIGHT should last that ranges from unbuffed light being gunned to probably a buffed heavy. Anything longer than that implies you are not completely engaged with the other guy or you are just terrible terrible aim lol.

Of course 1v1s are not going to be the norm in a team-based game, but as perspective. (opinion based on other SD games and videos)

Tactics require strategy yeah but an over empahsis on strategy in the form of rock paper scissors can eliminate tactics

Seriously , you make me cringe

I don't see why or how you would make a connection with halo.... space? regen shields? bungie? run and gun? none of that even sounds like Brink.

*I don't like the Halo Combat System that much either, this is how I feel it is: ''Win this fight, lose the next one becuase of the shields, and your pips'', I feel that BRINK will have a better one, or better and better, one I like more.

your looking into it too much, its the system where bullets arent arent dangerous...dancing is massive....you can technically get shot an infinite amount of times and be okay as long as you let your sheild regen and still go some thing ridiculas like 30 and 2

Tactics require a strategy, eh?

Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

When you do battle, even if you are winning, if you continue for a long time it will dull your forces and blunt your edge...Therefore I have heard of military operations that were clumsy but swift, but I have never seen one that was skillful and lasted a long time. It is never beneficial to a nation to have a military operation continue for a long time.

Team work and online gaming do work, ever heard of ''World of Warcraft'' for example? If you don't work together, then you're pretty much [censored] in the ass

BRINK is a team play game, or well, that's what the developers want, but someone for sure is gonna find some way to go solo, and ignore everyone else, I can already see it..

*Since the Medics appearently can revive themselves, that would most likely be the class of choice for those who wish to do what I just wrote above here, since Operative still helps, but are somewhat banged in the buck if they get downed behind enemy lines.

Using regular damage weapons, it should take 3-5 bullets for a kill, any less and the game is too unforgiving, any more, and it's just [censored].

Now your argument is invalid.

Given three bodytypes with different amounts of health, weapon restrictions on the light and medium bodytype, a health- and a damage-buff there is no balanced "regular damage".
But upping the damage it takes to kill some player increases the need for skill; thus restoring balance on the one thing which should balance things.

I do believe ( from the videos I've seen) that it doesn't take a full clip to kill one guy. and i saw these clips off of the main site. so they may have made it less idk. another thing I noticed is that there's no ammo counter in these videos so I don't know where you got that from. Perhaps he was just reloading after shooting it is a habit for most gamers to reload when they feel their getting low on ammo. But this is just what i saw and I'm just submitting my opinion. if you can show me multiple videos of them wasting full clips of ammo with the ammo counter reaching zero then I'll agree with you.

those were exaggerations made to prove points.
points i don't support, i might add.

if you take out OHK weapons, it's only natural you decrease the overall damage.
and that's the only thing i'll say about it.

Its not that fast and only effects your main life bar.

The way health works in Brink, is there's a main health bar and then "bonus health," like health you get through buffs and abilities. It looks kinda like this:

[============][==][==][==]
(^main health)..........(^"bonus" health)

The main bar (longest bar) is the players default health, without any modifications - this is the health that will regen when damaged. Any extra health the player has (the smaller bars) will be removed, and can only be restored by a Medic.
