Numerous deathclaw attacks in a row

Post » Mon Feb 15, 2016 12:52 am

Really could use some tips.

I finally had a thriving vault with 70 people. Unfortunately about 2 days ago I got attacked by deathclaws. And get this??? It was 3 attacks in a row!!! Then literally right after that I got a molerat outbreak in my entire vault. I ended removing most of my dwellers since I did not have enough caps to revive them all. I've seriously lost faith in this game. I'm too annoyed/terrified to raise their stats anymore cause I lost a good portion of people with high stats. Honestly, I'm really annoyed and I swear the game is purposely trying to kill me off. I send my dwellers out into the wasteland for a few hours and they keep bringing back .32 and 10mm pistols!

Are you in the survival mode?

Normal mode usually don't have too much Deathclaw attach attach, I have to open the vault doors many time to lure them.

May be the vault expansion is too quick.

To get ready for the deathclaws, I have

1. High HP dwellers, (level up to 50 with high "E" outfit)

2. 19+ weapons

3. Mr Handy at the vault door level

4. A lot of stimpak

If you are not ready, do not have a population more than 59.

If you want to open the Nuclear Reactor, boost to 60 and evict one. No death claw will occur.

Mole rates appear when population is 30 or more.

Best way is to have all the rooms occupied with dwellers. Empty rooms like storage should be built next to a room with more dwellers.

A Mr Handy is very useful in a floor with empty room.

Hope the above helps.

How sure ate we that the threshold is 60 before you get deathclaw attacks? I thought it was 35, so I've been stuck at 34 for the past few weeks whilst I rank up my dwellers.

It's 35 in survival mode, 60 in normal. I don't recommend going above that threshold until you have high endurance level 50s equipped with strong weapons, lining the entire top row of rooms. Even then, after all that, a stroke of bad luck, targeting issues, or invisible health bars can wipe them out, so in other words, just stay at 34, until you get bored and quit. Deathclaws in survival mode are just completely nuts.

Also, figure out how many stimpaks you'll need, worst case scenario. Whenever you drop below that amount, immediately exit the game. Do not push your luck, even for thirty seconds. Wait until you can restock, before playing again. The game will do things like chain deathclaw attacks, right when you're most vulnerable. It's just not worth it.

Vzur, all good tips. I've got one vault to 150 in survival, but that was with buying lunchboxes. With this vault I am not buying any lunchboxes, so 34 it is for the foreseeable future. I've got 4 good explorers going and plenty of stimpacks, so I'm in good shape at the moment :)

I did buy lunchboxes at first, to at least support the game. Started over a few times since then, and not buying more, since I feel like I've already payed for the game, now. So to speak.

I did build my vault very slowly. I had dwellers explore all the time but they still would come back with crap.

And if deathclaws show up at populations of 60 that would definitely explain it!!! Although 3 in a row???? I'm gonna go with glitch. I think I just need to start over whicb is upsetting cause I finally have decent weapons + pets I bought.

I kicked everyone out and no new dwellers have showed up lol. So I guess you can only do that early on rather than later.

Thanks for the info everyone. This'll help my next vault be more prepared. OH! And I was in normal mode.

You do sometimes get them in a row, I've had raiders quickly in succession and deathclaws as well. I've also gone for a few days between deathclaw attacks. I guess it averages out in the end.

Bloody annoying when you do get them though as they're so hard to combat if you need to move dwellers out of harms way.
