Nvidia Drivers Post 191.07 stuttering GTX 280 please help

Post » Tue Feb 10, 2009 2:18 pm

I have not played crysis is a while and decided to fire it up and play through the campaign. As soon as I started playing I noticed the game was stuttering.....well that never happened in the past. So I did a few quick google searches and found that it may be adriver related issue. I have a gtx280 So I started going back through the drivers one by one and kept getting stuttering issued until I got to 191.07, there was not stutter. Just for the heck of it I went back one more to 190.62 and the game played smoothly as did 190.38.
So with that process of elimination I can confirm that this is a driver related issue. Anything post 191.07 runs horribly even though I have good FPS. Is there a work around for this? I really dont want to be stuck on over a year old drivers when I am playing newer games that need the newer drivers.
Can someone please help?

Possibly conflicting drivers are causing your issues. I generally update my drivers 2-3 times a year and format at least once per year, to ensure that i've got minimal amounts of 'garbage' left in my registry.

I also format once a year (at least) but if I did have conflicting drivers then I should get stuttering with all drivers. In my opinion there would not be a specific point where all newer drivers stutter and all older drivers dont. Wouldnt you agree?
Also I make sure to clean out drivers with drive cleaner, not to mention the new nvidia drives such as 260.99 ask if you want to do a wipe of your old drivers when installing the new ones.
