Until I hear something different in response to what Nvidia have done I am assuming that Crysis 2 is a DX9 game period and will never have any DX10 or DX11 features. Which is what this implies.

My own view is DX11 is a Microsoft marketing exercise, in the same way that DX10 was about selling new video cards and operating systems whilst offering gamers the thick end of **** all.

If a game was designed from the start with DX11 in mind then there would be noticeable benefits, otherwise it's a little bit of extra fluff to plaster all over the product box. If DX11 does ever become available for Crysis2 I would expect benefits to be so small as to not really bother with although I would like to be proved wrong as I own a DX11 card.

A clarification from Crytek would be nice though!

I also have got a DX11 card upgraded from gf8800 mainly to see nice graphics in games using dx11. But, in return what have we got? Big ****! There is not many games using it and probably we'll have to wait couple more years before it will be implemented in games! and that sux, waste of money!

A clarification from Crytek?
These guys have definitely something to hide if they were so sure about Crysis 2 (that is so good) they would have said so. What we hear is nothing which I think means they have got serious problems with the game.
They have terminated PS3 demo saying they want to release "flawless" game! WTF?! 4 days before the launch are you kidding me, Crytek plz stop **** around! You want to "fix" the game, then make copies (thousands), distribute it to stores and sell it in 4 days? You think we are stupid?

Ok I`ve been gaming forever and have dual DX 11 cards. If Crysis 1 wasn`t dx11, then how did they get the bushes to wave around you enstead of you just walking right threw them, or was this dx10. I was under the impression it had the dx10 graphics built into it so either a dx9 or dx10 PC would run it and if you had the dx10 card you reaped the benifits... Where or what is the line that determaines dx9 from dx11, and can`t they both run on the same platform together? I guess I should go read up on this stuff....

We've seen screenshots and gameplay of the game looking great and you can bet that DX11 wasn't needed to acheive it.

When Crysis was released there was lots of hype about how DX10 was gonna transform PC gaming but people quickly found that the game artificially locked some graphics features into DX10. People worked around it and managed to get most of these features running on DX9 shaders. DX11 support or lack of is not something worth worrying about imo.

Ya know what i'm gonna wait for official word before I jump the gun and start complaining about DX11.
Rumors flying around the nets have proven wrong before...And yes some have proven true. But until official word comes I won't complain or be upset.

Anyhow noone knows what this game looks like in DX11 it may not look much better than DX9/10 except kill frame rates.
So the bottom line is wait and see relax don't get your panties in an uproar until it become solid fact.

The only reason I'm mad about this is because it's just one more unconfirmed change that has been added into the fray. Maybe it's just because of the amount of hype that is surrounding this game? It's 4 days before the release, and no one knows for certain that this game will have private server hosting, or even recommended system requirements. It's just a little unnerving having this nebulous haze surrounding a game's features so close to launch.

I can see peoples worries. But Crytek has a pretty decent track record IF DX11 is an issue they won't add it until it's working.
And i'm sure if EA wasn't involved the PC version would probably have been delayed IF DX11 is an issue.

I can't help but think IF there is an issue that EA was pushing them for this release to get out on set date.

Yep, this is a Total Console Port, through and through. They just took what was on the XBox and made it where Windows could run it. Most likely, it will never be changed.

And in other news Cevat Yerli confirmed that xbox 360 is the recommended specs for crysis 2. Crytek fanboys rejoice with bind admiration.

Marketing? maybe DX11 isnt much of a step up from DX10 but the diff between DX10 and 9 is huge. So DX9 vs DX11 is bigger.

This game should have been developed from the ground up with DX11. Why wasn't it? Maybe cryEngine 3 is complete crap...

i was reading an article that says nvidia is forcing either a delay in the release of the game or delay in the release of the dx11 patch to co-inside with a delay of the release of the nvidia gtx 590 card.

Either He means this

http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/faith/crysis-2-being-re-designed-for-gtx580-expect-delays/

Which is ages ago. It's also worth noting the guy who wrote it is just speculating based on Nvidia giving Crytek 2 million. Any one of us could do that but it could still turn out to be true I hope

If they delay DX11 to make it better then fine, just tell us and do a good job. Hell I'll even pay a small extra fee for the "copious tessellation" described in this article.

But I don't think that can ever be done again people won't continue paying for what they should get in the box. And thats assuming that I'm not the only person who would pay for it this time.

EA is and always will be the issue.. did you see what they did to mass effect 2? so little developement time, did u see what they did to dragon age 2? what they did to the NFS franchise after most wanted?.. EA, ubisoft and speccialy activition are ruining the gaming industry, and thats not only for pc gamers.. but the problem is console gamers dont really care about those stuff
