NVInteriors Project

Post » Sat Oct 09, 2010 2:59 am

Imp,

there is a bug in the New Vagus GECK which doesn't allow me to duplicate worldspaces! It crashes every time I try to build a Glass window type cell!

Die, bug, die :flamethrower:

I'm not too familiar with cell/worldspace editing - if you were to make the floors as just normal interior spaces, would you have to then start from scratch if you wanted to convert them to glass window cells somewhere down the line?

So guys, I've got a question for all of you,

I'm contemplating doing a "Beta" release to get some feedback and, your impressions of, NVInteriors. Is this a good idea or bad one? Would you rather I wait until I get everything finished or, would you like to get your hands on it now?

If you found the beta you did for DCInteriors - Wasteland edition helpful then you might consider doing one this time. But a different set of eyes is always useful.

well it would be easier actually to release a beta on NVNexus because then you have a place holder for you mod name and alot of bug hunters lol

I would release my beta on the nexus, I was kind of thinking the same thing about, using all of you as bug hunters, and, it would give the people I'm collaborating with the ability to also make releases of there own. (when they feel ready.)

I'm working closely with "Bigcrazewolf", He is using my "Core Assets", we're critiquing each others progress and, bouncing ideas around. Between the two of us we should be able to expand NVInteriors more quickly. :celebration:

My only fear is If I release a beta, would people consider it a spoiler? having more eyes on the project would help me, simply from a bug testing aspect and, getting feedback on content.

CevSteel, why not ask for testers say around ten people with different setups and see what they come back with in regarding to bugs. Experience players need only apply

forgot to reply to this one.

No, most of my glass windows cells started off as interior cells. I duplicated the worldspace and, copy, pasted them into the duplicated worldspace, placing them into there proper location. Until I have the ability to duplicate a worldspace I can't easily achieve this effect without a tone of work.

with some luck will get a GECK update. :brokencomputer:

Ooh, release day draws ever closer.
I'll be sure to give feedback whether or not you decide to release a beta, or a full version later. Though I wouldn't bet on finding any big bugs as your past work has been absolute top quality.

Pardon me for getting ahead of myself but I must ask :D are there any big plans (in the future) for Westside, Freeside and all those large apartment buildings in between and around the Outer Vegas area? All kinds of possibilities for thug havens and fiend/critter hunting inside those for instance. :flamethrower:

Good luck!

Without saying to much.....yes there will be some places in (insert location here)side, on initial release of NVInteriors Urban edition, with more to follow :twirl:

If I am wrong on the following statement, please correct me Cev, the Interiors project's main focus is atmosphere, detail, immersion, and lore friendliness, not just adding places to "Dungeon crawl and kill", not that there won't be things to kill. We don't want to make another "World of Pain" , don't get me wrong I played WoP and it's a good mod, if that's what your looking for... so don't go getting all :swear: on me  . Interiors adds to New Vegas in a different way and will continue to do so even for Fallout 4...hopefully Cev will have me on board again, if I live that long

Thanks all

Ahh, yes, didn't initially mean to put that much emphasis on "kill locations" in my post, pardon.:D (I should've known better, as I have enjoyed DCInteriors immensely)

But anyways, thanks for the little info slip on things to come! Certainly makes one even more excited.

I don't mind questions like this, I'll never tell you everything your gonna find but, I understand the curiosity.

Answer:

HE*L YES! I'm already drooling about some of those locations! I will admit my first installment will be somewhat small, It is more about getting my feet on the ground and, getting familiar with all of the new assets, tile sets. Please remember, DCInteriors was a "Work in Progress" witch took me more than a year and a half to get to the point it's at. (I don't want to say it's finished because, I still have things I want to do with it. :ooo: " I foresee fleshed out offices, apartment buildings, The usual custom shops and, don't forget all of the custom items you've come to expect from DCInteriors, hopefully it will have much, much more. With everything I've learned while working on DCInteriors I truly want to make this mod even bigger and better.

For the most part your "Spot on", You have to toss in creative cell design, (more than simple atmosphere, immersion) Interiors that tell a story just by there names, layout and cluttering. The art on the walls (Period specific, "1950's or, earlier"), the porm mag's, the writing of notes and, terminal logs which also give clues about the people who lived there before the "Great war", just to name some aspects of what I'm shooting for.

Without sounding arrogant, my mod has always ben more about what I feel are deficiencies in games and, the gaming community. Many games are just (In my opinion" low brow, "run and gun shooters" with no substance. I've always tried to bring in art, culture (wether it be High art or, Pop culture.), in an attempt to balance the run in gun with intellectual pursuits, trying to show something to, someone who might otherwise not see it. (if it's conscious or not!)

I know this has gone over many heads but, my biggest joy is when someone PM's me or, comments saying, I love the fact you've added this "obscure artist" or, that "Forgotten mag", Which leads me to believe I'm not the only gamer out there that wants something more than just another rehashed DOOM, Halo or, SOCOM.

sorry if I got up on a soap box for a minute, stepping down now and, bowing out! :(

I'm just trying to do something more than a 10mm pistol that shoots mini nukes. :D

I don't feel a low loot version would even be necessary, this mods emphases is on adding content, emersion, design, not super caches of loot. Yes, there will be stuff to find, scavenge (there needs to be a reason the player wants to go and, look around but, it has more to do with unique clutter, art, design. When I say "Unique clutter" I don't mean over powered weapons, I mean stuff to decorate your "Player homes" with, things to remind you of your adventures.

If you look at DCInteriors, this mod will be in the same vain, If I find users complain that I've added to much I will adjust but, it players think I haven't added enough, well tough luck. :teehee:

delamer,

Your wish is my command!

You my friend, have ben one of the most supportive and, helpful users of my mods, consistently critiquing, reporting bugs. I would be glad to have you test, poke around in a early versions of FNVInteriors. I'm uploading my WIP to a file share site and, will PM you a link once it's finished. There is no read-me yet but, I'm sure you'll know how to install it. Also, I have yet to do any encounters or details such as notes and, terminal logs, I'm finishing one more building inside of the ruins of Boulder City (which is unfinished, no Navemesh, decorations or, clutter,) then , I'll move onto the details.

there are only 7 new interiors at this point, I've ben spending most of my time working on the back end! My "Core Assets master" and, have only begun to really fill in the interiors.

I haven't turened the Wasteland edition into an esm yet and, you may want to run master update because, it will fix glitches with some AI packages.

I would apreciate your thoughts and, if there are any others out there who want a sneak peek, just let me know. Familiar names, supporters will get first priority. :goodjob:

I wouldn't mind giving it a go, CevSteel.

Also - have you seen http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36290? Not sure if it addresses the crash in the GECK or not that you've been having, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask :P
