NVInteriors Project

Oooh, yeah. Searchlight would be an interesting place to explore.

I do love how they set off a dirty bomb, yet everyone has time to board up the doors...

HeHe! same thing I thought! I figured if I went into the heat I could find some place neat or, cool! I was wrong!

Would the airport just beyond Searchlight be included in a Searchlight "opening"? That always struck me as strange, that it's just sitting there abandoned like that.

No, Only because another respected modder, "friend" has already claimed it for his own. I'm not trying to take over the world "Only what I can get my grubby little hands onto first!".

Um? not that I know of but, I am working with some people from other forums on other projects. I could just be missing a name! DCInteriors and, NVInteriors are and, will be independent projects, my personal babies.

I also could simply be being a bonehead at the moment, beer has a tendency to do that to you!

EDIT:

Some one has tried to snipe me, a want to be :ninja: NINJA! so, I posted my intent on the nexus.

There's always copycats. If there's something different and popular or unique for the previous game, someone will come along and try to steal it from under you. Claim it as their own. Been there, experienced that. Unfortunately.
But, we all know Interiors Project is yours :goodjob:

Good to see this being done. I couldn't help but notice all those boarded up places and what I really wanted was a crowbar to yank them off and go exploring inside

Lets talk without spoilers, :toughninja:

I already know the first few buildings I'm going to fill in!

what else do you think needs fleshing out, tell me the towns locations, without breaking the game.

cev

Freeside, Westside and a lot of the buildings outside the walls of The Strip and the areas I mentioned earlier could do with some new interiors, that's the most heavily populated area as far as I can tell so it'd make sense, and there's a ton of boarded up buildings there, just an enormous amount.

Primm is pretty much empty, but there might be something worth opening up there, the areas around McCarran and the Sharecropper Farms might be a good place to work as well.

I'm still a little unsure on how to proceed, If I can get some writers and, people who want to build NPC's on my side than I could see making a more populated district. My strong suit is in design and layout, not writing dialogue, I'm a graphics geek.

Now that I've beaten the game on my first play through I'll be on this like the "Germans on Warsaw!" It will be a "Blitz!". Once I finish my core assets .esm, I'll be pumping out new custom interiors. :celebration:

Fantastic news! :celebration:

You might want to avoid Goodsprings, there's already a mod that opens up interiors and adds NPCs and quests (called Goodsprings Filler I believe?)

Personally I'd like to see the numerous gas/service stations, especially the named ones with map markers, opened up (they ought to be good places to scavenge parts and probably have a workbench), motel rooms at the Novac and El Rey motels, and as others have said there are loads of boarded up buildings around Vegas itself - both in fiend territory and more peaceful environs eg. there are several buildings in the same area as the New Vegas Medical Clinic - it would make sense given their proximity to such a useful amenity as the clinic that they would be in use, even if just as hostel type locations for people using the clinic or recovering during treatment for injury and illness before moving on.

ETA: Oh and in Boulder City and the area around, sure the buildings should be decrepit and partially rubble filled, but exploration there ought to be really interesting - it was the only area that I found a bit disappointing.

Yeah I'm the same way, I enjoy writing dialogue, but building is far more fun to actually do in the GECK. What I meant was that since there's so many buildings there, it makes sense for more of them to have been re-opened at some point, populated or not.

Ha! Hilarious, I was walking through Freeside, then North Vegas to Westside and I was thinking to myself "Geez this place is awfully empty or boarded up. Why I've walked all around this building and it doesn't have any doors at all! This seems like a job for that Cevsteel character. I wonder what he's up to?"

Guess I know now.

Freeside really needs some more love, the place is so empty, like most of the Mojave... It needs more stores and there's at least one café waiting to be opened etc. Most of all Freeside needs a lot more NPCs, some basic merchants and squatters/locals.

Not sure how good idea it would be to open the various buildings if there's just stuff that you can scavenge, the thing is that every building should have been "picked clean" 100 years ago and there shouldn't be much left, maybe some empty bottles and other junk, but certainly not medicine, food, tools, ammunition or weapons. For example the gas stations could have merchants selling food and water for travelers.

I'd like to help if I have the time, I've done some modding on FO3 and NV for my own use.

Oh by the way, can I make a small request? I'm in no way demanding that you actually do it and there won't be any hard feelings if you don't, but I've got a building I'd like to "reserve" so I can run your mod with one I'm working on. The mod affects the house closest to the giant freeside sign, on the same street as the atomic wrangler.

Here's a http://a.imageshack.us/img80/6734/samcoltcestudio.jpg

Again, if you have something planned for that house, I'm not going to throw a fit, but if this building was untouched and thus compatible with my mod (Released sometime between next week or the end of time, progress is slow :P ) that'd be absolutely awesome.

I'd always be up for that primarily being a quest modder. In fact if you make your whole mod an esm then it would work even better since people (like me) can just make their mod dependant upon your mod as well and then use the buildings for their NPCs and quests.

So if you would like to let me populate your mod with NPCs (either as an esp add on or to incorporate into the esm itself) once you are ready for it I would be happy to do so. I'm the author of the aforementioned Goodsprings Filler mod btw, I sent you a message over the nexus forums but I never got a response back....

I can avoid that building for you, Once I get past my core file I'll announce exactly where I'll be starting to add, new interiors and, posting some WIP screens. Keep in mind when I do get to freeside you may need to remind me again to avouid your building. I'm a bit forgetful sometimes. :whistling:

Sorry, your PM might have simply gotten lost in the confusion of NV excitement. :brokencomputer: I try my best to reply to anyone that asks or, talks about things that aren't simply just off the wall. I always thought it would be cool, fun if people wanted to mod my mod. There are a few add-on plugins to DCInteriors floating about, I'll be making my mod an, esm with a core esm containing all major assets. Collectables, loot and, all custom stuff packed up into one neat tightie package.

If your interested in populating or, adding quest to NVInteriors just let me know of your intentions and, most likely I'll let you.

Searchlight airport would me high on my list of [req]s. I was so ticked when I got down there and it was zilch in the way of exploration. Other thoughts.....

That's very nice of you, thanks. I'll keep it in mind, if the project turns out to be too much for me with my current schedule, then I'll also make it known so the buildings is "free" again. That type of building is pretty common so I can move it, but Freeside seems like a good fit for it, so it's cool that you're willing to avoid it. :)

There's a mod that touches Jacobstown (Princess Stomper's mod), but it's more about adding player housing, a barbershop, and a few other things.

My personal preference would have been more of a continuation of ruined abandoned interiors for those bungalows in Jacobstown. A lot of the interiors mods up on Nexus are mostly adding player-housing, which I feel there's a plethora of and not enough adding more interior locations to explore. Locations that fit in with the New Vegas canon/lore as much as possible.

Freeside, Westside are good starting places. There's really no spare locations in Primm, unless you add tiny areas to the Bison Hotel's north door or back door that don't connect to anywhere. Nelson has a few boarded up houses, but is the location of a major legion atrocity. I reckon Novac has a few places. Also, a lot of the Poseidon Energy stations are simply boarded up.

Guys, Take a look at this request tread, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1141705-req-dynamic-interiors/. I think it is an excellent idea for "The NVInteriors Project", unfortunately, I'm no scripter.

The Idea of having the interiors encounters, clutter and, use's change over time is way to cool to not attempt. At least in one or, two test cells, this is how the glass windows cell started out. I'm not saying I would do this in every cell (I would never finish any new district if I did), I would't attempt to do this in every interior I'm going to build but, as they say "Change is good!"

The Idea of the OP is to have encounters change in something like 72 hours, In my opinion this is way to short! It should be over weeks or, even months of game time.

So, I'm going to put a little call out to any competent scripter who thinks they have an idea of how to pull this off. Think about the idea, think about how we could make it work. I'll do the cells, I can only do simple scripting so, if you think you can help, I really think this could be a cool feature in NVInteriors. I would give credits as a collaborator for any assistance and, you would have my heartfelt appreciation. :swear: No thats wrong, :hugs: " Got it now.

If you try something like that it might be best to avoid named NPCs.
After the legion raid, and the rat infestation, someone is bound to try and set up camp in the building again. And if it's always named NPC with dialogue it'll take a lot of work.
So simple NPCs like "Settler", "Prospector" or "Hunter" would probably be easiest. Love the idea though. It's just that it would be weird if the changing process suddenly stopped at rats.
