OBGE-Oblivion Graphics Extender

Just as a note, I have Win7 64 bit Home version installed, and in order to run TES4Gecko (or TES4Edit, I can't recall which) I had to download and install DirectX9. Otherwise I didn't have the D3D9 something or the other .dll that was required.

To my knwoledge, windows Vista and 7 don't ship with runtime executables of Dx9.0. You'll need to get a redistributable from Mcft's website and install it. The latest should Aug 09's.

I highly doubt this but could it a problem with an ATI card (if your using one?)

The Godrays is PS 3.0 shader. If your card doesn't support PS 3.0, then it probably will not work.

Did you try testing the depth.fx and testshader.fx to see if they work (result should be a grainy black and white scene.) If they work, then your doing everything fine and its a Godrays Error on your part. But since you said the ShowTestShader command didn't work, im guessing you couldn't test the default shaders either.

Would it be possible that you would need any version of DX? I have the DX9 required by MGE SVN Build 118 on my vista system. These are just theories though so I wouldn't know if they will solve the problems or not.

oh but i have a ATI Radeon HD 4870 and it works for me and by the way dont for get to go to your Oblivion ini and switch on bAllow30Shaders=1 under [Display] and has any one tryed night eye http://www.xfire.com/video/198f45/

My page file is high right now as I have a lot of apps open (multitasking my brain) when I play I shut some services down and turn everything else off and it goes down to under 1800.

My card is an ATI 4870 1 gig vram. So is that incompatible?

And can I get a definitive answer as to whether the original OBGE is required?

thanks much.

Im using the original OBGE but I do not know if it is required. I installed the original OBGE first then scanti's plugin after. I can't remember but I think I read that the OBGE debugged version will not work.

Try removing scantis stuff and your current OBGE, then install the original from timeslips page first. Afterwards, install Scanti's updates with the depth shader and shaderlist along with the depth.dll. If that doesn't work then i'll try making you a package to test.

Vtastek,

Just reporting a small bug I found while testing your very Awesome Shader that I haven't seen discussed yet ... For lack of a better term I shall refer to them as GodShadows, since they are shadaws Cast AT the SUN as you can see in this

http://frostcragreborn.com/images/GodShadows.jpg

If you notice in the pic, those are shadows cast at the sun, since the sun is at my back. In the real world this would of course be impossible, as the shadows would be going the other direction. Its much more noticeable in game, but I think that conveys the problem, and maybe you were already aware of it.

Good Luck, and thanks for letting us test it out. Great work Everyone.

So with that shader entry in the ini -it was not set to 1 and now is.

Still either way no initialization.

I've tried reinstalling all the parts 3 times now. Maybe it is the DirectX version I'm using? Video Drivers?

I don't know.

If it doesn't initiate, try reverting back to a older version of OBSE.

Dumb question here but are you acting running oblivion through the OBSE loader? Your problems seems to be getting stranger and stranger everytime.

maybe you should show us your load Oder it mite be something thats stoping it Note that you don't see any Effect anless you trype ShowTestShader 1 and you have to have in Oblivion\Data\Shaders TestShader.fx Depth.fx and GodraysforOblivionv001a.fx then in your shaderlist.txt you have just at the top GodraysforOblivionv001a.fx then go in to game i a sunny day and trype ShowTestShader 1 and u should see the Godrays when you look at the Sun.

In order to test All Natural Enhanced Colors ... A dwarven/Dwemer Curius ... and this too

I just created a new profile and new character with this load order:
Active Mod Files:
00 Oblivion.esm
01 DLCShiveringIsles.esp
02 StartChoices.esp

Seriously. All replacers still active though.

Right off I tested this - and no go - what version of OBSE do you recommend? I have all the way back to, I think, 17.2.

@Psymon

It looks like the obse loader is failing to load my plug-in dll. It should give an error when it fails which makes me think it isn't even initialising. The only reason I can think of that would cause that is if the file got corrupted somehow. Right click the DepthTest.dll file and it should be 131072 bytes long. If it's any other size then it's got corrupted. Try redownloading http://dl.dropbox.com/u/519253/DepthTest.dll file and replacing the DepthTest.dll file with it. (It's the same file as in the archive I just haven't compressed it).

Edit: The stuff in the src folder is the source code for the project. You can safely delete it if you want to. It's there so the programmers out there can see how it all works (or doesn't work).

Nice splatters.
Looking into the blur (artifacty pic), at the cobbled street stones, makes my eyes feel odd... maybe some sort of strain. I have "perfect" vision and see what looks to be the general lines of the image being offset- sort of like "double" vision- in addition to the soft blur. I imagine playing the game like that would result in a headache.

No problem's here,

but, I just had ctd while tcl mode but I was panning the camera around so it could have been related to that..log just in case..

Lost device callback < = that is related to video card correct? using ati 9.11 Drivers

I think I may have something called Mild God Rays that work with SunGlare Enabled and HDR and does not have the whiteout effect - only the blue tint..

Let me make a short movie to show them..since well they are going to be hard to see..in pics..

As the code is still very much beta it doesn't handle a lost device properly. A lost device is when either your graphics card drivers crash and reset themselves or you alt-tab out of the game. If this happens then Oblivion will crash or freeze up. It something I'm obviously working on fixing.

Hey there,
Right off I tested this - and no go

@Psymon
It looks like the obse loader is failing to load my plug-in dll.

@Psymon: It seems that DepthTest.dll is linked explicitly to this DLL D3DX9_41.DLL, which is from the DirectX runtime 9.26.952.2844. I'm not sure which update installs this specific DLL, but I bet that the last one available (August, I think) must have it... Maybe you don't have that particular DLL installed, and because of this OBSE fails to load it.

Cheers,
leeus

EDIT: typo
