Objectives are repetitive....duh

Post » Sat Dec 25, 2010 6:43 am

I'd just like to say I don't buy this as a negative part of the game. Do objectives change in TF2, COD, BFBC2, CS:S.... no. How is this any different from CoD S&D or BFBC2 Rush objectives?? I've played round after round (X 10000) of S&D in CoD (WaW and prior) as well as a lot of Rush in BFBC2. Do those objectives ever change? No. Does this make the game less fun. Not at all. It's the players not the objectives that make each round unique.....

I agree, probably armed 10000 crates and capped 100000 flags in bf. Same thing everytime, fun everytime. Honestly i wonder about the people who review these games. He prob woulda gave a higher score if sometime u had to press b to interact instead of x. Its nit as repetitive right? Lol

I heard it's not so much the repetitiveness, but more so the lack of variety.

Agreed. Conceptually, every multiplayer game is repetitive at some level. Every Starcraft 2 game begins with the repetition of the basic build order. Every round of an FPS game involves pursuing the same objective (i.e., arming a bomb, killing more enemies than the opponent does, capturing the flag, etc.) If the game mechanics weren't repetitive on some level, you would never be able to have a competitive clan scene. If you're going to fault this game for being "repetitive," I hope you're ready to call every other multiplayer game repetitive as well.

Counter Strike 1.6.

T's have to place the bomb or kill all CT's,CT's have the defuse the bomb or kill every terrorist to win the round. <<--the most simple and repetitive [censored] on earth, yet MILLIONS AND MILLIONS played it. :P

And Counter Strike is a great game.Played it for years.

I'am not afraid about that the objectives being repetitive iam happy that we finally have a game again with objective based gameplay like Wolfenstein ET/Quake Wars.

It seems to be kind of a strange complaint, that the objectives either lack variety or are repetitive. Not sure as I haven't done much in campaign, but so far through challenges, you can:

  • repair
  • escort
  • demolish
  • heal
  • hack
  • capture
  • and deliver

various objectives. These will be used in tandem with each other to create a mutli-part mission that is, if only through the order they are done, different from the other missions.

If you're talking about the IGN review, it also seemed like he was annoyed that objectives were dependent on map. Also, that the story is repetitive? Can't you skip the cutscenes?

Just seemed a bit off.

The variety in Rush on map A and Rush on map B isn't great, though.
Or TDM on map A and map B.

It is because people always ask for more when you give them more.
When you give them A, they ask you do you have B;
When you provide all, they will ask why it is not all+1.
If you don't give any choices at first, they won't complain. Marvelous.
