Objects Still Hidden

Post » Sat Oct 30, 2010 6:32 pm

Hi,
Some cells appear to have many invisible objects that I can't make reappear.
Say Interior,Gomorrah00 for instance.

I can only see room markers, portals and a few other random items from the object list.
I have used show/hide dialog to show everything and nothing is showing teal in the object list.

Anyone got an explanation?
Be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Edit: Oh yeah I tried F5 as well. :(

Yes, evidently it's a bug in the GECK or something. You can try the Power Up utility: http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36290

But it seems to me that it still does not fix it entirely. So, what I have done is create myself a plugin that I use to go in and poke around when I want to look at something. Because I'm never going to use it for the actual game I can screw up in there as much as I want to, lol! Basically I just find a cell I want to look at and just start removing the markers and what not that are causing it to be invisible. At a minimum I can get the X-Y-Z coordinates I need if I want to place something in that cell, but it's still a pain in the azz. :banghead: :brokencomputer:

Seriously? :brokencomputer: I was hoping to add another level to Gomorrah, that'd be a major pain.
I thought I was just missing something.
Powerup made no difference as well.

Were you going to add to an existing cell, or create a new cell and attach it somewhere? If it's new it wouldn't be that hard to add a door from the vanilla cell to your new cell. You'll just have to do like I did with my throw away plugin, get it placed like you want it in the throw away, and then reproduce what you did in the invisible cell with your x-y-z coordinates and edit feature. It's definitely a pain, but it's do able. Can you imagine placing 20 bobbleheads like that, lol. I just got through doing that mostly blind.

I tried deleting most of the map without saving on the lower level in an attempt to find a location for a door teleporter.
I can try and make the new level from scratch but atm I have no idea where to put my door really, best I can do is plonk it on the edge of the room marker and run the level and hope for the best....

What the reason for this though??

Exteriors seem fine, I could add a door in the courtyard but it'd make more sense to add a lower level.
I'll try and delete everything apart from the wall I'm working on.

EDIT: This is BS, even if you delete everything you can still see mostly the same stuff in the render window.,.,,

Is there no official word regarding this issue?

You have to delete all the stuff that has to do with markers and bounds, save then reload the cell I believe. In my throw away plugin I just filter for "marker", delete them, save and reload and you can see fine.

Yes, it's definitely a pain but if all you're doing to the vanilla cell is adding a door to your cell, I would again suggest making yourself a "throw away" or "test" plugin to get the positioning worked out. (You can't just go deleting stuff if you're actually going to use the plugin, lol) Once you have the door where you want it write down the x-y-z coordinates, scale and rotation of the door after you position it where you want it. Then just recreate it in your "real" plugin. Once it's in position, even though it's invisible you can still edit it by right clicking in your cell objects and select edit.

Maybe there's another way but this has been working for me. I figured it out trying to place 20 bobbleheads in invisible cells, lol.

Balok,

save yourself a step in your test esp. After deleting the room markers simply hit the F5 key to refresh the render window, no need to save, quit and, restart.
