Objmemsize in patched Daggerfall?

Post » Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:47 am

Digging through the various Daggerfall threads I noticed several mentions of setting objmemsize higher in z.cfg to deal with issues arising primarily from players being packrats. Supposedly the setting was added with a patch at some point. However, I found no such line in my copy of the file. I had a friend who just downloaded and patched after me send me his file and his looks just like mine? Might this indicate we goofed the patch? I figured maybe adding the line to the end of the file would be ok, but there's no way to tell whether the file uses a different order or if it even cares about the order of its settings. Advice?

[dosbox]
# language: Select another language file.
# machine: The type of machine tries to emulate.
# Possible values: hercules, cga, tandy, pcjr, ega, vgaonly, svga_s3, svga_et3000, svga_et4000, svga_paradise, vesa_nolfb, vesa_oldvbe.
# captures: Directory where things like wave, midi, screenshot get captured.
# memsize: Amount of memory DOSBox has in megabytes.
# This value is best left at its default to avoid problems with some games,
# though few games might require a higher value.
# There is generally no speed advantage when raising this value.

language=
machine=svga_s3
captures=capture
memsize=32

Memsize=32 I guess?

That's not what he meant.

After going through "PATCHED.TXT", it looks like it's an automatic fix in the latest versions of the patch. There's no longer a "z.cfg" setting associated with it.

That's the amount of memory DOSbox shows the games it's running. I was speaking of the things mentioned in http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=790923&view=findpost&p=11532919 in http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=790923&hl=wealth, specifically. The configuration file in the Daggerfall folder shows nothing of the sort for me, nor for my friend.

EDIT: Missed Taemos' reply. Thanks for the effort on both counts. Time to collect armour! Note to self: read patched.txt more carefully next time.
