[Relz]/[WIPz] Oblivifall - Revenge of the Classic

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:33 am

Making a patch for AN support won't be very hard at all I don't think. The new custom cathedral .nifs will just need to have alpha transparancies added to the windows and switched to AN window textures, plus the new cells (if there are any?) would need climate changes. That's all simple to do. I think that's all that will be necessary.

For AWLS, the new exterior cathedral .nifs will need to be run through the Illumination Animation tool, and that should be it unless you add totally new window textures? So this should also be simple.

Both can be dealt with when the time comes. I can look at the mod when it's done if any help is needed.

Edit: Oh, and if you're not using All Natural and AWLS currently, you should be! Haha.

Thank you for your help Brumbek! It's much more simple that I thought. :D
I will contact you when the time will come to work on the windows. When the cathedral interiors will be finished and functional, I'll check the windows.
:foodndrink:

P.S : I haven't played Oblivion in around 6 months, only modding it. :P

I was doing sound editing yesterday and I've created all the music and sound ambiances for the Better Inns module.
Here are three samples, (There are six in total) Notice the changes in the sound ambiances from one class to the next. And the music change as well.
There's still need to be some sound editing done. Notably, panning some of the sound effects and reducing the volume of some of them.

Sounds very realistic. Maybe you can add more on in futre versions...make them sound similar, but also unique. Then there can be a never-ending bar scene!

Sounds great. When you get to editing the files some more:
Cut everything below 40Hz too - there is some slight rumbling. 24db/octave should do it :)

Looking forward to it!

Hey Cliffworms, I like the "something's not right" pluggin, but have you considered first person messages instead of second person? I for one find messages like "I feel like I'm being watched" or "somebody's watching me..." more immersive than "You feel watched". In any case it's minor, and probably personal :)

Kudos to the team :)

I just saw this for the first time after clicking your link in the lore section and, I must say, I'm impressed. I love the idea of adding more lore and realism to Oblivion; I hear all the time about how Daggerfall did a better job of this. Excellent work, downloading the already made ones now. Thanks :goodjob:

PS Let me know if there is anything I can do to help that is not CS related. I'll be sure to look at that character names thread ;)

Modeling/Retextures

Armors for the Knightly Orders:

- Should be highly based on Jeremy's Knights of Tamriel mod for Morrowind. In the best of worlds, I'd love to see them modeled after Jeremy's. But if that proves too complex, retextures of existing armor, with the symbol and colors of each god would suffice. :)
- Reference link: http://jw_mcguinn.rethan-manor.net/page1.htm

Note: The Kynaran Order armor has already been done by ADCK.

Thanks for reading the whole post. :) Feel free to add comments/feedback/suggestions and hate. :P

Thank you for the feedback guys. :D

There's a total of 17-18 tracks. 6 tracks for each Social Class, and they are separated in 3 MP3 files.
So there's a lot to listen to. :)

In addition to the mp3 files, there's also general "talk" sound effects playing when you enter a tavern. So when the music ends, you still continue to listen to the people talking.

Sounds great. When you get to editing the files some more:
Cut everything below 40Hz too - there is some slight rumbling. 24db/octave should do it

Thanks a lot for the tip! I haven't done sound editing since last year and I completly forgot about that.

Yep, it's in the plan. In fact, I could release it tonight.

The only way you could help is by submitting character names. But only providing feedback and giving suggestions is great as well.

Yep, I've contacted the author of Akatosh's Knightly Order. I'm patiently waiting his answer. :D

Nope, are you referring to the second song maybe? It has been taken from the mod "CM Partners" for Morrowind, released by Cuthroat Mods.

oh i didn't mean the texture, just the mesh since it very much resembles the Kyranan Knights helm mesh from Jeremy's KoT mod :) which is what you wanted to base them off of right? but whatever, i don't really care what you do since what ever you will probably be awesome anyway lol

There's one thing I forgot to mention about Losing My Religion.

There will be an add-on for the users of Knights of the Nine, which will simply deal with how visually the House of Dibella is affected when KOTN starts.

But note that while there will be no conflict between the two, there will be a Lore conflict, Since in KOTN, you can become a Knight who's serving all gods.

Knights of the Nine says: "I'm a Knight of the Nine and I shall strike and protect the citizens, so is the will of the Gods."
While Losing My Religion says: "I'm a Knight of Iron, I serve and fight only under the banner of Zenithar and for His interest."

Also, the armor you get in KOTN is called "Crusader", while the Crusaders are in fact the knights serving Stendarr. So that will be another Lore Conflict.

Why couldn't there be a lore-friendly Order of the Nine in addition to the orders serving individual gods? Kind of like the FBI vs. the local police.

All of these mods sound particularly interesting, and add-ons that will definitely make it into my load order once completed. Let's Talk, Losing My Religion, Better Inns + Oblivion Comes Alive, Loot!, Deadly Diseases, Daggerfall Character Generation, Halt! and Holidays all hold potential spots in my load order once they are completed. I've never played Daggerfall, but the things these mods seem to do are simply too good to not use. Holidays to me seems particularly interesting, as it's something I wanted to do myself once and if I ever became better at using the Construction Set.

Keep up the great work!

Oh, I see! Well the helm that ACDK designed is already close enough to Jeremy's, and fits perfectly. :D

I personally have difficulties imagining a knight who serves all gods in one banner, considering that each god sees one thing with a differently.

And I,m sure some of the Knightly Orders will sometimes not fight for a good cause. In my opinion, they are all neutral. While the KOTN are your shiny knight in shiny armor defending the people of Cyrodiil from any evil.
And that is not the case of the Divines' knightly orders, who fight only for the best interest of their religion. Stendarr's knights will protect the poor, because he's the god of Mercy. But would the Mentor Knights do the same thing? They are the "Protectors of Knowledge", so why would they care about some beggars being attacked by brigands. But if those brigands would turn out to be mages or daedras, now the Mentor Knights might be interested.:P
"While the Schools of Julianos do most of the actual teaching, the Knights Mentor protect the sages and fight the ubiquitous forces of ignorance."

And the FBI and local police are not there to serve the interests of gods, but to protect people from "evil". And like I said, that is what the KOTN does as well.:P

Hmmm - I see history as rife with sinners.

If one were to take the early definition of sin as 'missing the mark' or missing the point.

Countless religious orders who are well indoctrinated into interpretations that are entrenched in misguided understandings of religious experience ... informed more by money, politics, jealousy, greed, hate, xenophobia, and ego endless ego.

Why, just because in this little make believe world where gods are supposedly real, that all the followers of all the religions have got it dead on right?

Perhaps the KOTN can be seen as the outer order while the various gods are then different pathways into differing versions of the inner order ... following their own pathways like snakes up the tree of life.

Perhaps the KOTN have it wrong but even then they have power.

Perhaps the KOTN are a misinterpretation of the various pathways - a surface understanding. or maybe it is more like in real life where god is dead: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21816

"all prophets are true, save that they understand only a little" ... that little being that what they espouse applies only to themselves.
