Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition!

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:45 am

Yeah baby, yeah!

Today when I checked my mail (that′s snail-mail for you kids born ten years ago  ) I found my copy of
Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition!!!

:celebration: TOTAL HAPPINESS!!! :celebration:

It looked so nice with its three discs and it came with a brand new map as well! And the pics of a legionnaire and a Dremora Lord was icing on the :cake:
This popped a question in my head as I now have three copies in total. The original release, the GotY and now the 5th anniversary. Yay!

How many copies do you have, my fellow cyrodilians? No fancy poll this time, just a simple question

Please tell us!

Spoiler
Oh and, ehm... I also got my Fallout 3 GotY Edition, but I feel I shouldn′t mention that here :unsure2:

I have two copies of PC Oblivion GOTY. The second copy was originally intended for use as stored backup only. But I have two computers capable of running Oblivion at highish settings. I ultimately decided to keep a copy of Disk One in each computer's DVD drive, theoretically reducing wear and tear from transferring disks between machines.

Surely you play other games too, Decrepit? Then you have to take out one of the discs anyway ;)

I have one basic Oblivion disc + one SI disc + one KOTN disc (w/ all DLCs except Fighters Stronghold). I've had the basic disc since 2007, but since it 'lives' in my DVD drive, I'm not worried about it suffering wear & tear or handling damage. It only comes out for cleaning or upgrading its 'house'. And no, I don't play other games.

Sweet to have almost all DLCs
Well I rarely play other games since Feb 2007, but I feel Lothran deserves a break from me every once in a while

We bought two copies of Oblivion. This is actually small compared to the number of copies we bought of Morrowind.

Ummmm...not really. The only other 'major' game I play at the moment is Daggerfall, which I acquired via download. (I also have the original disk version from back when the game was new and shiny. They knew how to make manuals in those days!) Otherwise what little gaming I do tends to be casual stuff like Solitile and online crosswords. I am somewhat tempted to try Minecraft, but that's a download.

I did take Oblivion out of my DVD drive at the beginning of the month to install TurboTax. I'm gonna need to remove it again very soon to burn my more recent save files on to DVD...my seventeenth save backup DVD this play-through.

I agree, the value of a good paper manual can′t be underestimated. That′s actually the one thing I was disappointed about regarding my newly arrived copy. The manual was very slim as they′d cut out many things from the original and GotY ones.

Wow, the seventeenth DVD of saves? As I go down memory lane from time to time I keep finding these unnecessary saves in my library and I delete many of them. I′ve gone from 3.62GB to 2.95 and I intend to keep it down.

I had a feeling you were going to say that. Alright, let's see. First I bought the Collector's Edition. I bought Tribunal later that year. That Christmas I bought copies of Morrowind and Tribunal for my father-in-law. Early in 2003 my daughter became interested in playing so I bought copies of Morrowind and Tribunal for her. When Bloodmoon came out I bought two copies of that, one for her and one for me. At the end of the year I moved to Oregon to live with Brash, abandoning my possessions, so I was forced to buy yet another copy, this time the GOTY version. Lastly, there's the copies of Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon Brash bought for herself.

All together that comes to five copies of Morrowind, five copies of Tribunal and four copies of Bloodmoon. Over the years I have personally given Bethesda enough money to pay for that stupid haircut Todd Howard wore during the keynote address he gave to the D.I.C.E. Summit two weeks ago.

None :(

My brother took it with him when he went to Uni, and I haven't bothered to pick up another copy yet (due to Skyrim taking up most of my gaming time anyway).

That said, I did get my 5th copy of Morrowind today :P I gave two of those to friends, though.

Three, actually. Normal version of Oblivion for the PC, and the disk is still at my parent's house (with the PC I used to play it on.) Even though the computer probably wouldn't run it anymore, and I'm not home enough to enjoy it anyway, I couldn't bear to throw away/ sell the disk. It's got a nice fat manual and pristine map with it still.

When I got my xbox one of the first things I did was buy a copy of Oblivion. I had to buy this second hand because I couldn't find a new one anywhere. It was just the normal version because I couldn't find GOTY. This pre-owned copy came with a manual but no map.

Then when the 5th Anniversary Edition was released I went and bought it without even having to think twice about my decision. I wanted the Knights of the Nine expansion and knew it came with the anniversary edition. This came with a lovely, fresh-smelling map of both Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles, plus a DVD. So I use the Anniversary disk.

Near xmas my friend wanted to play Oblivion for his xbox again so he could finish off all the achievements, so I wrapped up my pre-owned xbox copy and gave it to him as a present. He was delighted. So I guess I only have two copies now.

Two copies, one 5th Anniversary and one Steam GOTY Deluxe (currently uninstalled). I transferred the DLC from the Steam version to the disc install.

I just have the one GOTY copy, that lives in my drive to the exclusion of everything else.
(And will do so for the foreseeable future) :D

I am considering getting the Steam version purely for the rest of the DLC, however...

I have three copies of Oblivion: One basic copy and two GOTY. It may seem strange, but the reason I have two GOTY's instead of two tegular is that sometime in the autum 2011 both of my copies had started to become a bit unstable. I went to a local malls gamestore and the GOTY edition was on sale for half the price of the original game, so I did the smart thing.
