Oblivion and it's changes to the lore

It probably doesn't have that much to do with being rushed but more to do with a simple lack of a vision with depth. :deal:

:turtle:

well bethesda is known for not really caring that much about the completeness of their product. I mean ever since morrowind they've just came out with smaller and smaller games. And they've been promising fallout DLC for PS3 owners but have gone about 3 months past the expected due date.

Can't make children with permanently glued-on underwear attached to every citizen of Tamriel. Daggerfall lacked such an inhumane contraption, and is why that game had children.

LMAO

Except not. DLC has been promised on the GOTY edition of FO3 for PS3 before the release of PL, I believe. And it started with Daggerfall. You should know more about a subject before you go bashing it.

Daggerfall was to modded to really be in this conversation. Making it smaller was a blessing with morrowind and it should've stayed that size not go down even more.

If we are talking landscape wise Oblivion is bigger (Though not as big as some people seem to keep insisting. The difference is actually like 2/3 or so square miles or so I think. (They found a way to actually measure the cells and found the difference, can't remember how. With Morrowind they used the Construction Set but Oblivion was measured in a different way) In terms of things to do and choices to make, Morrowind crushes Oblivion. (Especially in the choice section)

I like both equally as well.

They are both good games but Morrowind is the better RPG and has more to do. (No real debate there) Oblivion is better then plenty of games but I don't find it to be much of an RPG, more of an action game. Lore wise, I sill don't understand this Sutch thing now, it was supposed to be in Cyrodil, now I can understand them moving it but what happened to "old" Sutch? Their is no way it's just that dungeon. With Ebonheart, it seems like the Ebonheart on Vvardenfell is the "new" Ebonheart but the "old" Ebonheart sounds like it is still on the Mainland so they clearly didn't just pick it up and move it. (It seems like that is what they did with Sutch though)

Morrowind is the better RPG

I respect your opinion, but I actually consider Oblivion to be more of an RPG. Thats probably just because I'm a stealth character. The stealth is overall better in Oblivion, so I guess it just depends on what type of character you are. In other words, stealth is a strength for Oblivion and it happens to be my favorite attribute which makes Oblivion a more fun experience for me.

As for the lore thing. I don't really pay much attention to the lore which is why I forgot that Cyrodiil was suppose to be a Jungle, LOL. However, after reading these threads I'll admit that Oblivion screwed up a lot of the lore which I understand would make a lot of people who cared for the lore upset. Yet, I don't really know what to say about this. I guess you can compare this to when people go see a movie and hated it because they left so much good stuff out of it that was originally in the book(Which is why the books are usually better). Of course Hollywood, has to leave a lot of stuff out because of a time limit and they tend to change things to try and please a wider audience. Most game companies tend to change their lore to try and please a wider audience as well. For example, Blizzard also did this to their franchise, Warcraft. From what I've heard is that Bethesda thought that a more traditional medieval style for Oblivion would attract even more people which would make them even more money. I think they succeeded in that playerbase wise, but fanbase wise failed because they upset a lot of people who were into the lore and the story.

I'm not really sure what you want us to answer here, but I tried.

who cares which was a better rpg? What has that got to do with the lore changes you were so eager to talk about? If it makes you happy they both svcked royaly. Now I'd like to know what the heck arkraven is talking about.

Helseth and his mother are the dunmer king and queen you must be talking about, but that has nothing to do with Dragonfires.

Discussion off charter for Lore forum.

If you want to discuss game implementation, and whether Morrowind or Oblivion better meets your standards for being an RPG, take it to TES General.
