Is it possible that there are Easter Eggs/Hints or references scattered across Cyrodiil in Oblivion that could possibly reference future games? How about NPC conversations? I know that they mention other provinces, but they seem to mention most of the Provinces (I've heard Black Marsh, Skyrim, Summerset Isles, Elsweyr, Valenwood)

Could they have planted anything? Could they have a general story/setting while finishing up Oblivion, and go back towards the end to plant clues?

Any opinions?

Well we're pretty sure the next game is set in Skyrim. One of those side conversations says Skyrim is at war with the Redoran of Morrowind, maybe that's something. Maybe you get to fight there Nerevar too, but that would be pretty crazy.

I really doubt it, considering the theorizing that the devs did FOR the next TES game didn't start until after OB was finished more than likely...
They had something like that in Morrowind with Bloodmoon, but that was only after the SECOND expansion pack, and was only a few words.

There was also that one quest in the Tribunal with the cult, but anyone could have passed that as just some guy who sees the Tribunal weakening.

But there's also that stuff in the main game about the "unrest in Cyrodil."

And Caius is called back to Cyrodil, suddenly, because of a security issue.

I say yes. I feel like these guys that write the story behind the games love the story as much as we do. Alot of people think that Oblivion ended stupidly and I tend to agree that it was a tad abrupt. However based on my experience people tend to think that it's because they couldn't finish on time but I think that someone had to step in to cut the story off because it was getting to lengthy. Just my opinion of course. Anyways I also tend to think that while they were coming up with Oblivion( knowing that there would likely at least be consideration of a fifth game) they were brainstorming other Ideas for future games. Unfortunately this also means that the story would become bland at some point as it did in Oblivion. But I don't care what anyone says Oblivion is still a great game.

apocalypse. Wait four years later and there's
Oblivion, so it could be anything.

I thought that I read in one of the in-game books (or perhaps it was an NPC conversation) that the Nerevarine went to Akavir. Though, I could be mistaken. I think it's been about a year now since I've serioiusly played Oblivion. If that's the case, though, then I have high doubts that you'll be seeing the 'Nev' anytime soon.

I am pretty sure that during the development of a game there are always ideas for a sequel and some of them are probably incorporated into the game for the sake of continuity. Most of the hints or rumors in Oblivion were about the Summerset Isle but the Skyrim Trademark suggests that this is where the sequel will probably take place.

I believe the oblivion 'hints' were supposed to point to the books more than anything else. I think we might see some game related hints in the next book (though i still haven't been able to find a copy of the first :cryvaultboy: )

In OB they were always complaining about mudcrabs. TES5 might revolve around a mudcrab uprising :sadvaultboy:

If I have to fight against Redoran, I'll never play the main quest. Why would they force us to fight against the most noble and cultural and (IMO) coolest house?

As for hints to the next game, I doubt they're in Oblivion. In Morrowind, the entire premise for Oblivion was given to us and we didn't even know. That one Tribunal mission where you have to stop a cult of people whose leader was ranting about how Mehrunes Dagon is going to invade Tamriel.

I thought he was crazy as [censored]...

But TESV takes place like 200 years after Oblivion, or something like that. So I doubt the same rumors that were surfacing in Oblivion are around in TESV, what with a new Empire coming in and a flying city killing everyone only a few years prior to the game's setting.

Goblins are pretty tough in Oblivion. I'm expecting a cliffracer uprising, considering St. Jiub(good to know he made something of himself) drove them from Vvardenfell. They could be in Skyrim.

Most likely, houses have completely dissolved following the Red Year. To make matters worse, Redoran was already in bad decline, was being targeted by nords for their annual invade Morrowindathon, and with Ald'Ruhn being decimated, most likely the leaders of Redoran were killed in the conflict.

Hmm.. Never found that quest :shrug: nice, though.

Most of the things people talk about in Oblivion is just to refer to lore, since there is hardly any other references outside books, that a lot of players don't read.

Just what I think. And I doubt the warring nords would have something to do with TESV, because they're warring with the Dunmer, which can't happen when TESV takes place, because of the stuff that happened in Infernal City.
