Oblivion Beginner!

Post » Fri Jul 29, 2011 3:25 pm

Alright so I am a very skilled Fallout player and I just jumped over to Oblivion and I am a few hours into it. I need some helpful tips! This game is quite different in my opinion then other Bethesda games. Some tips on these subjects would help; Lockpicking, Fighting, places for beginners to explore, glitches, and a good way to just have a good experience. Thanks. :foodndrink: My gamertag is CheddarDozing if you would like to send me a message or chat.

That's a rather broad subject. There are too many variables at play. Your playstlye, character selection and build, to name a few. At this point I would suggest reading through the UESP Wiki.

The following quote, from another thread, says it very well

At the risk of spoilers, you could visit UESP Wiki (UESP = Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages) for tips on levelling, efficient levelling, etc. Being that you only bought the game 3 days ago, my recommendation is to avoid all internet help for the first five or six characters you make, and just experience all the playstyles the game has to offer, find the items on your own, do the quests on your own, etc. You will get far more playtime out of the game this way, and come to love it the same way some of the members here do! Happy adventuring!

Nothing special, just play the game and you'll learn everything you need. The great experience is choosing and doing your own stuff. Check out Imperial-Library or UESP if you're stuck or post questions here.

Well you are right, fallout and oblivion are way different, you can be good at fallout by accident, oblivion on the other hand you'll wanna remake your character as you can seriously end up gimping it.
Tom Clancy is right, just play the game and get a feel for it, yes you might mess your first character up, hell I think everyone has right? But after that first character you'll have an idea of what you want and everyone here on the forums will be happy to help you achieve that.

Have fun and do whatever you want to do, that's the magic of oblivion.
