Oblivion Crash Logs

Post » Thu Oct 01, 2015 2:23 pm

I have googled high and low for a way to read the OBSECrashDump.dmp that OBSE creates at times but have come up with nothing. Does anyone know what program I can use to open and read it?

While on the subject, is there any other way to make Oblivion generate a crash log that would be useful for deciding which mods are causing the crash? I've installed one called ConScribe but so far it has proven quite useless.

Unfortunately, there is no good way to tell what mod caused a crash. Conscribe has other uses.

obse_loader.log is sometimes useful to pinpoint which OBSE mod did not load correctly, but that is a rarity. I think you may have to tweak some of your Oblivion Stutter Remover settings. But if you now have a stable game (with an older version of BC, per your response in the other thread), I suggest NOT tweaking anything else and just play the game.

Well, it appears that my game is a lot less stable than I thought. I ended up crashing in the BC IC now. Too bad. I plan to man up and pare down my mod list. *sobs*

I'll read up on the options in the OSR .ini file. I've read the readme and the nexus description on it. Are there any other sources of information about it? It'd be nice to read a more advanced guide to tweaking it.

Also, what program do I use to read the OBSECrashDump.dmp file? I realize it will likely hold no useful information but I'd still like to be able to peruse it and pretend that I understand it. :P
