Oblivion crashes at startup load! Again!

Alright so my Oblivion install went for a nosedive again. I reinstalled, fcom works. Then I installed some texture replacers, weather mods and a water mod.

Now it crashes at first load. Again.

Ugh.

While I'm here, I should mention that I disabled the mods I DID install before it all went for a crap. Those mods were AN, Nautral Enviroments, Enhanced Water and Immersive Interiors. Still no joy. Also, I switched from DarnUI to Darnified DarkUI and the loading screens look all corrupt.

So maybe we can fix that too while we are here!

Hi,..have you edited the INI for Oblivion? The one in your "MY Documents" folder?
For DarkDarnUI you need to edit in the New Fonts. Try generating a new INI and then Edit the Fonts. See if that helps.
The game will generate a new INI if you rename your existing one. I just Change .INI to .BAC

Install DarkDarnUI in the end through OBMM. Well, almost at the end. Some mods like Morrowind lockpicking/Enhanced Economy etc. need to be installed over to replace DarkDarn's menus.

There were direct questions in the first post for a reason...as you say you have a corrupt UI (User Interface). Guessing you don't need the interface to Load a Save..

The only way I can have FCOM+++ (228 mods loading) Is because I installed ONE mod at a time, Loaded game, played and then saved. My install took over 6 months to build. And has been rock solid for 2 years. Gaming sessions last from 3 - 8 hours straight.

Just tryin to help. without the edits for DARN in my INI I crash straight away also.

I remember a corrupt UI installation leading to a crash on the loading screen. So that may be your source of troubles...

Hm...I'll give it a shot.

Hm. Reinstalling Darnified DarkUI didn't fix it. It looks like it's something else.

I used to constantly have this problem on my reinstalls by the time I'd installed a general number of mods - usually about 30. It drove me up the wall. I finally figured out that a combination of BOSS ordering and rebuilding my bashed patch after every single new mod fixed the problem. Sounds kind of simple, but I'd never needed it for my game to work before so I hadn't really done it. If you've done both these things, though, I'm not sure what to suggest.

Do you use BOSS? If not download that and run it and see if it helps.

Have you checked the option for auto-ghosting in Wrye Bash? If not, turn it on. When the # of esp+esm+bsa files exceeds 400, crashes occur.

Yeah, Auto-Ghost is turned on. Still crashing. I tested it out with just a FCOM install. It worked. After that I installed Bartholm, EE, RAEVWD, BBC, B&M, Welkynd Sword, Thieves Arsenal, Theivery In The Imperial City, Vaults Of Cyrodil, Clocks Of Cyrodil and some FCOM BSA's to improve performance (after deleteing the meshes and textures from the first install). It was at this point it stopped working.

Bash shows no problems, neither does TES4EDIT or anything like that.

I did. This is a fresh install, with each mod installed not all at once and with testing periods. But it just keeps breaking down. If I disable the mods that I installed prior to the crashing, it still crashes. I'm bashing as much as possible and running BOSS as well.

So the Oblivion master file fires up with no mods active?
In that instance if you add a couple at a time it shouldn't take long to isolate the problem mod.

Yeah, it launches fine with oblivon vanilla and FCOM. It's something else that is causing the crashing but even disabling each mod that I installed after FCOM dosen't cure it.

So start with FCOM which you know appears crash free.
Add a couple at a time and play test those....

Ok, so I tested each mod one at a time and it worked fine.

It's when I use a bashed patch it screws up. Any ideas?
