[Relz] Oblivion -Elys- Uncapper ( OBSE plugin ) #2

Post » Tue Sep 14, 2010 4:46 am

yo elys, just a question, my akills above 100 are showing as green text, and yesterday I've installed darkui interface, noticed it displays the bonus applied when skills are green texted, +1 +5 10+ and so on, so now I can see that some of my skills are 101 +9 (ending up 101 of course) but others are 102 + 8... so, isnt they supposed to be 100 + bonuses? or is that ok after all?
Elys' uncapper doesn't work like other +100 mods. It doesn't hold you to below 100 and then add bonuses to make up the difference. It changes the games internal settings to allow you to go up to 200. So you should continue to go up 100, 101, 102...200 with any item or magic bonuses on top of those.

I understand, I've used the player.setav blade command to change it to 0 just to test, and I was left with the above 100 bonuses only, wich was 13 green points, but what i'm not understanding is that, my blade skill before that was 115, so my skill was 102 + 13 bonuses wich, I believe the 13 points is due elys's mod running, but in any case, how could my blade skill go 102 after all? wasnt supposed to go up to 100 and then only bonuses gets applied? there's also some other skils that 101 + bonueses as stated, and I can se those because I'm using darnui, I might be all wrong, or either everything is fine, it is just not showing correctly, the fact is that I used legendary mastery before, and I'm afraid I've messed up something.

You were previously using Legendary Mastery. Did you use the transfer file that Elys provided to transfer your character to the uncapper?

I believe what happens is that LM fakes the "over 100" setting with bonuses. When you switch to Uncapper I think it reads your "experience" in a skill and sets your skill appropriately. Which may be why you suddenly jumped to over 100.

You could save a game and then run UOP's stat restore or Mentalor's stat restore just to make sure you aren't bugged. Drop any items that provide bonuses, first.

no no, I just removed legendary, clean saved, and then used elys's, I can't figure if it "left" anything in my game so now its pretty messed.

heres a http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/9206/screenshot0ib6.jpg of how is it looking

I don't recall quite well but I believe it was above 100 a little, i just lvl it some more, in any case, I just wanna know if using elys's, my skills would be like they are showing there, or, if the +bonuses are not from elys (I would show only the base value until 200)

If you don't have any fortifications, buffs, or other things that add to your skills/attributes, they will show as black numbers all the way to 200. Numbers that show as green/red, have some sort of buff/curse operating on them.

I dunno how you cleaned your save, but if you did it using SetAV, you've messed up stuff. You cannot clean Legendary Master bonuses using SetAV.

But all of that have already been explained in details ( why of it, and how to properly disable LM ) in the original Uncapper thread, infos starting here: http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=762321&st=98

Well I'm gonna paste here a packed post about the whole things for future reference:

Legendary Mastery does not increase your base skill level past 100.
After 100, it set your base skill level back to 99 and then use the function player.modav to increase your skill level ( ModActorValue modifies the stat by the specified value, without affecting the base value of the stat. )

Removing Legendary Master does not clean the MODAV bonuses you got from it.

To clean properly your savegame just before removing Legendary Mastery you can follow the steps below:

Get http://karamail.nerim.net/elys/temp/Shikishima%20wanna%20be%20cleaned.esp and :

- Start the game and load your character.
- Unequip all your items ( to remove eventual skills/attributes bonuses from them )
- Be sure that there is no current attributes/skills buffing spells going on or wait for them to stop.
- Save the character and exit the game
- Disable Legendary Master ESP
- Enable Shikishima wanna be cleaned.esp
- Start the game and load your character
- Wait (in game mode) for the Message Box to appears
- Save the character and exit the game
- Disable Shikishima wanna be cleaned.esp

Why can it takes long to get your skill to level up again:

When you were using Legendary Mastery, each time your base skill level was reaching 100, it was set back to 99 ( and then an "artificial' MODAV level was replacing it )
So Skill Experience Points wise, each time you have seen a skill level up while using Legendary Mastery, it meant you had gained enough EXP points to level from 99 to 100.
However the EXP to level up between 100 and 101, 101 and 102.. and so on is bigger than the needed EXP between 99 and 100.

e.g.: While using Legendary Mastery, your BLADE was 103, that means your total Blade EXP = EXP[1..100] + EXP[99..100] + EXP[99..100] + EXP[99.100]
While the real total EXP for your Blade should be: EXP[1..100] + EXP[100..101] + EXP[101..102] + EXP[102..103]
The real total EXP is bigger than what EXP you got while using Legendary Mastery, so you have to get all the missing exp points before you can level blade normally furthermore.

@Elys:

Seems like it worked, I've done the procedures, and then activated the plug-in, I thought I'd have to set my skills to it's real value using setav later, but wasn't necessary it seems, I've re-added your uncapper, started oblivion, and my stats were not green-bonuses anymore, was base value accurate. Thanks very much.

Will this work with Kobus Character Advancement System (KCAS)? I know it has some of it's own ways to get attributes to go above 100.. and I'd like to be sure, as I absolutely love KCAS for leveling in a smart manner - but being able to uncap my skills would also be useful, especially for my chars with Restoration, so they can get proper working insane-level skills with the resto buffs.

I wouldn't think so, as those mods merely alter the rate at which skills progress. The uncapper simply makes it possible to go over 100. I don't really see a conflict there.

I have OBSE in my Oblivion root dir, so does that mean the dll gets dropped into a /plugins/ subdir?

To further this simple question (but I like to be clear...Oblivion crashes far too much for me as it is, hehe): I also have OBSE 14a installed to my Oblivion root directory. It is *not* installed to /data/obse/ (although the directory structure for the old OBSE v12 is off the main directory as ...\Oblivion\obse_0012). So, do I need to make a /plugins directory right off the Oblivion root, ala "C:\Program Files\Bethesda\Oblivion\Plugins\" or do I need to move OBSE around so that it operates out of the old v12 directory and put it there, or do I need to create directories for and move OBSE into .. "\Oblivion\Data\Obse\..."?

Basically, will this work as long as it is in a /plugins directory off of whereever OBSE is installed?

I don't know if it works that way, but the right folder structure is Oblivion/Data/OBSE/Plugins.
If you don't have the folders, just create them...

ok here's a question/request for Elys, some of the games internal calculations (fArmorRatingMax, is what i'm refering to specifically for now) still base their calculations on a scale of 0 to 100, is it at all possible to instead link this cap to the iSkillMasterMin instead, or atleast some method of althering this calculation? if possible, what would be prefered the most, would be some way to modify it not just changing it to 200.

I have not looked at the armor related stuff, and I don't plan to work again on the Uncapper ;)

Below is the last version of the Uncapper source code if you wanna play with it.

- EDITED, reposted updated code in following posts. -

What would be nice if there was an alternate version without the hard cap unlocker but with the new formulas. Some of us think that 100 is plenty but would like to be able to use enchantments, potions, spells, etc to bring skills/stats above 100.
