Oblivion is by far better than Skyrim

But anyways, no. It IS NOT better. Opinions are cool but that's a fact.

Seeing as that's an opinion too your post didn't really make much sense.

Was Oblivion your first TES game? If so, that's why.

You're first is always special.

But anyways, no. It IS NOT better. Opinions are cool but that's a fact.

That is not a fact, it is an opinion. Thinking your opinion is the only correct one, does not make it a fact.

The archery in skyrim is more realistic. I own a longbow, I shoot said longbow often, I shun fancy compound bows. Skyrim archery is actually realistic

If people knew about real bows. You can not shot a straight arrow and expect to hit your target at distance, bad mechanics in game. Oblivion I had to arc the bow to get a perfect shot, judging for velocity, distance and gravity. I could snipe someone at 100 yards or so in the head. Sorry but Ob's Bows were much more on real side. They are not bullets to shot directly at a target, they're arrows.

Bullets don't shoot directly at your target... Try hitting something from 600m aiming straight at it

Edit, even 300m or 100m if it's windy

The arrows in skyrim do not shoot straight, they shoot out and go up slightly, then continue in a downward ark. Why don't you go out and shoot a bow, it's a great hobby and a good way to get outside. After you've mastered hitting a target at 100 yards, try doing the same in OB and then skyrim. Not only is the arrow path more realistic, but the
draw and angle the bow is being held at are both more accurate. (at least in some scenarios involving longbows)

I also shoot guns. And I would say I shoot professionally in a manner of speaking. I know how bullet drop works.

Another one?

Yes I understand. You see, this was a subtle joke, the point of which was... You know whet, nevermind.

What?

I've done some archery back in the scouts; I can't say I have ever, EVER, seen an arrow, fired from a bow in the real world, that magically shoots slightly UP before going on a normal trajectory. Nor could any real human make them fly as straight for as long as they do in the game. I try to arc a shot in Skyrim, it just flies straight over my target, who's fairly far away from me. I felt Oblivion's arrow trajectories were much more believable than Skyrim's, though not as accurate as real life.

Have you shot a longbow with a 200+ draw?

Nostalgia is a wonderful thing...

We are all entitled to our opinions.

Oh, as far as the Archery topic... Skyrim's archery is realistic up until your arrow disappears completely.. If you were shooting a compound bow with a very strong pull on it anyways. One thing I really wish they'd patch, making sniping from extreme distances impossible.

I kinda agree with the OP. But Skyrim has something that Oblivion didn't have. It is more attentive to details, which at times strikes with immersion. Still, the OB seems to be a more enjoyable game. Probably mods will correct that.

The combat felt more solid (even thoug Skyrim's is a tad better).

That is a contradiction to your point then..

Oblivion with a lot of mods was fairly strong, but stock Oblivion pales in comparison to stock Skyrim. Oblivion did a few things better IMO:

Varied landscapes. We've got marshes, plains, cold mountain areas, the gorgeous anvil coast, etc.

Bigger cities where you could actually unload all your loot.

More player homes and more variety in the homes. (shacks to modest homes to mansions)

More guild halls

Imperial voice acting is unbeatable. Why they didn't use more wes Johnson in Skyrim is beyond me. We've got a whole imperial army up there FFS and Wes Johnson was cast... clearly a mistake not using him for imperials.

Roads were safe. People ride horses. Horses had first person support.

More utility spells. Feather and unlock spells, armor could accept any enchantment where in Skyrim you can only put fortify carry weight on boots. GTFO with that decision Bethesda! I like to carry 1000 pounds of stuff, and no I don't want to use a bag of holding mod, I want it legit by sacrificing my armor enchants to do what I want them to do.

Face creation. I know Skyrim's characters look better.. but the face creator in Oblivion had better control. Now all we get are a few sliders and some prefabs. You really can't make a face look exactly how you want because the controls are gone.

Guild quests were way longer and a little more unique. Skyrim is fetch/kill and rarely anything else where Oblivion seemed to have a bit more variety.

Oblivion had more interesting unique NPC's... like Glarthir, drunks that roam the streets at night yelling stuff, Count Hasildor was awesome, and I could name more if I thought about it. A few argonians were cool and had some flavor about them. Most the fences were pretty cool.

Darker dungeons, and a lot more times where I was scared for whatever reason. A zombie's bare feet patter always seemed to creep me out and wraiths were a little spooky. Draugrs just don't scare me for whatever reason... at all. Maybe its because the dungeons are pretty instead of scary. Oblivion had this cold feeling in the dungeons Skyrim didn't capture.

That's what I thought before I accidentally discovered a combo swing I could accomplish with my 1h sword. Now, I just cant get enough of killing things, espicially guys in heavy armor and undead bosses  they cant even shout now lol

Oblivion is better at: collector's edition. Oooooh yeah, I said it. that's what a Collector's edition should look like: compact and great content/price ratio.

Not trolling? Then why do you mention that Oblivion has less bugs/glitches? It has been out for more than 5 years, I imagine even the smallest of minds would realize Bethesda had time to fix them in the given time.

Combat is obviously better in Skyrim, its choppy/clunky in Oblivion, as its an older game, so theres another of your points mistaken.

Only part I agree is that the guilds were better. Though I highly doubt you are not just messing around.

Not in my opinion, I popped Oblivion in a week before Skyrim came out to get warmed up and my god, it looked so terrible and the movement/combat was so clunky I just shut it off - can't believe I spent 100s of hours on that once.

While I too noticed these, I managed to look past those and enjoy it, and re complete all main and guild quests then do a ton of side quests and then complete Shivering Isles. A great game, but even with the DLC, I don't think it matches Skyrim.

I don't like planning ahead for how to play a game, Oblivion is better because it was perk unlock not random amount perk limited.

Well, Oblivion with OOO might be up to Skyrim and Nehrim certainly is...in fact I consider Skyrim to be Nehrim2. But vanilla Oblivion? No way, not ever.

Oblivion + MMM+FRANS+NEHRIM+BETTER CITIES+RAEVD+UNIQUE LANDSCAPES+MAX TAELS HDR WEATHER = Much better than Skyrim but vanilla not so much
