Oblivion is by far better than Skyrim

I think it might be nostalgia, which i the same reason many prefer Morrowind.

yes i agree. the enchanting and alchemy system is just too shallow to be used to replace the customizable magic system they had in all of their previous titles. its like they simply decided to exclude a core part of what made all the elder scrolls great while incorporating the rest. it definitely made magic classes less worth while.

Guilds, horses and magic was better in Oblivion. And in case of horses, not by much :hehe:

I can't argue that one much. Though the magic "effects" are far better in skyrim, just not the system or variety. And as for guilds, yeah the story/length are weaker, but the voice acting/locations/and fact they never completely run out of quests, does keep it interesting.

As a whole, I prefer skyrim over Oblivion. But I think morrowind was "as a compelling and deep world" a far better game than either.

Not at all. It is one of the best games made so far, along with FO3, Morrowind and Skyrim, but in my case I simply think it is wrong to overlook the faults a game has since no game is perfect. That is why I easily will support constructive criticism of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim if it is makes some good points and can show to ingame examples(not just: it was not likel this in [Insert ES game here], therefor it svcks that it isn't anymore).

There were a couple things l liked better in Oblivion. All NPCs having full schedules and doing things like going to bed, for instance. I also thought they guild quests were better in Oblivion, at least insofar as each guild's quest line was large enough to support it's own play-through. While I enjoyed Skyrim's guild quests, they were all way too short for my tastes.

But, I like Skyrim better.

The only aspect in which Oblivion pawns Skyrim is spellmaking and the lenght of guilds, maybe the ammount of cities, if that bugs you, but Skyrim's are more polished.

What matters more than this petty drivel is the rediculous potential for skyrim thanks to the modding community.

I for one welcome my new unkillable dragon overlords.

And I welcome an anti-dragon mod removing the buggers from the game.

And I welcome people like you to play a game, centered around and based on dragons, without dragons. I do not welcome you without laughing at the irony, however.

Point is, there is nothing to be afraid of with the dragons. When the mod comes that puts them on a PCP rampage of hero-eating insanity, folks will respect them for the world-ending lore they travel with.

This is just ridiculous how can one find oblivion a better game...

oblivion was the most tedious TES game ever. Always the same gates and the dungeons were all copy/paste....

For me skyrim is 10* better. And skyrim will win a lot more prices ....

For me skyrim is one of the best games i ever played and oblivion isn't even in the same league.

keep up the good work bethesda and please don't listen to the complainers they are loud but for the majority is skyrim the tes game ever.

Yet, you're still complaining about one of their games.

+1 OP It's because they had better voices and didn't recycle the same freaking voice on everything.

Patrick Stewart not in Skyrim made me cry... Close Shut the jaws of Oblivion !

Well. properly modded Oblivion is true a gem and does some things Skyrim doesn't do...Yet. However IMO out of the box, Skyrim is a better game in most ways and soon with mods will surpass the earlier game by leaps and bounds

Oblivion, even vanilla was not nearly as bad as the hate seems to imply.

It was and still is an excellent game, and better than 90% of the crap released by other devs.

In many areas its better than Skyrim. Better UI, map, depth (yes Zomg!) Skyrim is easily the most shallow TES game to date. Skyrim is great sure, but Oblivion is special. It was the pioneer of a generation of epic open world do anything type games. There was TES 1,2, and 3 of course.. but Oblivion had the long view distance which people instantly took to.

I dont get the Oblivion hate at all, sorry.. it's an incredible game.

I can agree on the quests, and Oblivion did feel a bit more 'magical' than Skyrim. We also still had most of our misc spells in Oblivion, which is not the case in Skyrim.

WHY NO WATER WALKING BETHESDA?!?!?!

EDIT: We still had athletics and acrobatics, too. And hand-to-hand...

Not in my opinion, I popped Oblivion in a week before Skyrim came out to get warmed up and my god, it looked so terrible and the movement/combat was so clunky I just shut it off - can't believe I spent 100s of hours on that once.

That's like comparing reading the Dead Sea Scrolls to an eBook on your Kindle, when really what you should look at is how well Alien 2 was executed in regards to Alien 1.

My opinion is that, Morrowind had the better story/gameworld and faction questlines but Skyrim has the better gameplay mechanics. Non regenerating health/mana in a realtime game and gimpy combat. One of the best features of skyrim is that you don't have to sleep to level up! Oblivion fits in between, love the DB brotherhood questline in it, but the main quest was aweful.

Skyrim has dragons. Oblivion doesn't. Therefore Skyrim is better.

Until you meet the first one.

Overall, I like Skyrim better. But I hate how buggy it is, especially with quests. Guilds have been a disappointment so far, that's about it.

I quit playing Oblivion when I hit level 7 and found out I levelled "wrong" by "just playing the game". Creatures at the first Obliion Gate killed me in 1 hit. So yeah... Awful levelling system in Oblivion. I like this one much better since it's not [censored] like having to swing your sword 500 times, walk 500 miles and block 500 times to get your "best" level stat.

I really miss spell making and the lesser Daedra but besides that Skyrim trumps everything about Oblivion IMO. :goodjob:
