Oblivion is by far better than Skyrim

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 7:38 am

There is just something about Oblivion that makes it a better game. I don't know what it is, but you know, it just is a better game than Skyrim. I'm not trolling, i really think this! The dialogue is better on Oblivion (more funny), the combat felt more solid (even thoug Skyrim's is a tad better). Oblivions quests were better than Skyrims, the giulds were better. Overall, i feel that Oblivion was better, more solid overall, a much better product, less bugs/glitches aswell

Not in my opinion, I popped Oblivion in a week before Skyrim came out to get warmed up and my god, it looked so terrible and the movement/combat was so clunky I just shut it off - can't believe I spent 100s of hours on that once.

Ok, i'm not here to agree or disagree, but you need to be way more constructive with this thread otherwise it'll (most likely) be locked down for "spam".

I'll agree that I enjoyed the stat system, HATED the leveling, and loved that you could name what kind of class your character was going for. I wish you could do that in Skyrim, why can't you? Just a simple tag like "Death Knight" or "Runemaster" or "Nightblade"

Rose tinted spectacles, that's what it is.

I'm guessing that Oblivion was your first ES game, that always is a contributing factor as well.

Then dialog: "I saw a mudcrab the other day"

Well, Oblivion with OOO might be up to Skyrim and Nehrim certainly is...in fact I consider Skyrim to be Nehrim2. But vanilla Oblivion? No way, not ever.

I agree. I enjoy Oblivion much more than Skyrim, but I enjoy Fallout 3 and New Vegas more than both.

It definitely could have been added with a background quest that monitors your skill levels and gives you a title accordingly.

Pretty much how I feel when comparing Skyrim and Oblivion although I have to disagree about the horses.

I'm kind of disappointed with Skyrim's questlines. They seem really short compared to Oblivion's.

I have finished the main questline! ... but I don't really feel like I've done anything. =/

I wouldn't say far better, but Oblivion is better in the following ways:

1. Spellmaking.
2. Utility spells like unlock, cure disease/poison
3. By far the most noticeable are the longer and more enjoyable faction quest lines.

Aside from that, Skyrim is much better; that's my opinion though. I love both games and still play Oblivion.

Oblivion certainly has more charm to it in my opinion.

I'd say Skyrim is a slightly better vanilla game, but a modded Oblivion easily wins.

I have to agree that Oblivion out performs Skyrim in quite a few ways such as with magic, questlines, freedom, general diversity, faction hierarchy, UI, dialogue, music and a few other things. But Skyrim also has fair points such as improved graphics, more dungeons (granted they have less creature diversity than previous installments), and improved combat.

Generally though I feel Oblivion was the better game and Morrowind comes before Oblivion as a better game making Skyrim my least favorite TES game out of the TES games I've played through. But Skyrim is not a bad game, it's just not a good TES game.
