Oblivion Gate Gltich?

Post » Fri Jul 08, 2011 11:52 am

Hi Guys,

Im having trouble with oblivion gates at the moment. Everytime i take the sigil stone I dont get transported out, there are alot of flames and then a bright white flash but after that nothing happens,I end up having to walk out the gate myself and the gate hasn't closed even though ive taken the stone and any resulting quest has not completed or updated. also when I leave the sigil stone room and go back in, the room is filled with a bright white light/fog and is impossible to see through. If anyone knows what this glitch is or is happened to anyone and knows of a solution would be great.

Are you on the PC ?? Did you by chance Die inside an OB gate and then reload a save from outside the Oblivion world or use the console to teleport out and then reenter later without using the console ? Do you have SI installed ?

Sometimes if you die while in an OB gate and then reload back in Tamriel there is a setting that does not reset properly so the game thinks you are in Tamriel when you enter an OB gate afterwards so it does not teleport you back to Tamriel after closing the gate because the game thinks you are already there !

IIRC to fix it you can go back inside the OB gate and open the console and type CloseCurrentOblivionGate and press enter -- that should close the gate and teleport you back to Tamriel -- If that does not work then from inside the gate open the console and type COC Aleswellinn and press enter (this will teleport you to the Aleswell Inn - then go back to the OB gate click on it and type CloseOblivionGate and press enter to close the gate (Note : this is different than CloseCurrentOblivionGate and will not teleport you out of the gate which is what you want since you are already in Tamriel) -- After doing this the next time you go and close another gate it should work as designed.

Do you have SI ?? IF so try using the teleport to SI and then back to Tamriel (this should also reset the variable ) - that might reset things so that the gates will work again. Since that teleport resets the same variable so that it can track if the player is in SI or Tamriel.

Shivering Isles ! (the expansion for the game that is also included with KOTN in the GOTY edition)

If you do not have it - try clearing the cache - and then loading an older save if you have one - exit and load your current save and see if that clears things.
