Oblivion Graphics Error

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 2:46 am

I recently got a laptop (windows 7 premium) that is more than adequate to run Oblivion on Ultra High/High settings. So I excitedly loaded my saves from my desktop comp into my laptop, re-downloaded Oblivion from Steam, and started it up. Just to make sure it ran, I put the game on medium settings. It ran perfectly, and with no lag whatsoever. Then, I quit and put the graphics up to high. Upon loading the game, everything was white. I could not see my character nor the world around him (Skingrad Castle Hall).
When I put the game back on medium, it was fine. Is there something that I can do that will allow me to run Oblivion on high or ultra high without aforementioned issue? If so, please post back as soon as possible. Thanks :)

Are you sure about that, it's fairly demanding game for graphics cards. Post a dxdiag. It sounds to me like the card just can't handle anything higher than medium.

Card name: Intel® HD Graphics Family

I suspect this is why. Oblivion REALLY doesn't like Intel integrated graphics.

So you're saying that it is my video card for sure? If so, then screw it, I'm not getting a whole new one. But if it's not, then what can I do to fix this?

I've heard about it, but that wont help me run it in high or ultra high, will it? Mine runs it fine in medium.

*EDIT*

I just finished downloading New Vegas. I can run that on high, but didn't try ultra high. Are oblivion's requirements actually hire than NV?

The engine used for New Vegas is actually better optimized that oblivions..... I don't think your machine is has the horsepower for ultra high in any event though. Video solution just isn't BA enough.
