I think it'd be wise to rename this thread to "Oblivion Graphics Extender", as there is much interesting and exciting discussion out the realm of godrays. It could go into the OVEP thread, but as things were being discussed in the last thread, it'd be convenient to put it here.

Second Tissue Box's motion :P While Amp started the discussion on godrays, the meat of the discussion seems to center around OBGE.

Is it possible to ever have a Oblivion Audio extender? In which we could have things like accelerated audio, EAX? have oblivion use X-Ram and many more possiblities.
Maybe like
Reverb/echo
I dunno many others as well

Dang dude the graphics extenders still being worked on and your thinking about an audio extender??? In truth: I think this would be more complicated, but I am highly inexperienced with this kind of stuff, so....

Audio...

There's http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17050, and lyobovnik made http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14472 to use it. Other people could also make mods using it if they wanted to.

Those look very interesting but it would be great to have EAX 4.0 and and a few other things.

Reviving OBGE? Glad it's happening
While my computer can barely handle vanilla graphics, this gives me something to look forward to when I get a new machine

WURRRRGGHHH. I don't have my Oblivion discs here in NY so I ponied up for the GoTY edition on Steam. It now insta-CTDs whenever I run the game. Dammit, Beth! Why must you torment me so? D:<

Any advice? I've been off the Oblivion scene for some time, so I'm not really well versed in how it plays with Win7 and x64. Exception code is c0000005 and offset is 0018927e, and I'll probably make a post in the tech forum in the event nobody knows of a useful fix off-the-cuff.

Afraid I don't, but it's really great to see you, Ilmryn!

Hmm... :icecream: how about this instead?

Like I said, i made this thread in a hurry. Im just the one who came with the idea. I'll post them and more in time don't worry. But for now, people will have to search the other thread (which really isnt all that trouble as its only one thread)

Godrays might be needed but they also need to be tied to the air/weather. Only with particles in the air does godrays manifest clearly - it might be pollen or light fog, smoke or smog. And if I remember correctly they do show more clearly at dawn/dusk, but my memory is foggy on that account.

Looking good, not only the godrays but all the other goodlines one can expect with z-buffers demystified.

Cheers!

Well, having weather based godrays is simple enough - just apply the shader whenever it's an appropriate weather, which can be done using Oblivion scripting, as can time of day, etc. The hard bit is getting the godrays in the first place.

Hey, you know I wuv you guys :3 RL gets in the way sometimes. Point is, I'm back, I've learned much in my travels and I'm ready to make some neat s**t once Oblivion decides it wants to work again. *rage*

I've actually found all sorts of neat color controls, etc. during my stints playing with Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge which I'll try and get working for you folks. http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/curves-4/curves-4.htm is really, really cool and something I've been wanting to implement in my own (now DX11-class! :D) renderer for some time; seeing what you folks do with it should be a great way of developing a control set for me to stealify >:)

I really hope you get you`re oblivion fixed Ilmryn, because I`m really interested to see your new neat s**t :hubbahubba:

I use your OBGE Motion Blur underwater, and it really makes it much more realistic. :mohawk:

Packaged w/ motion blur. Another thing to add to the to-do list; configurable effect chains.

Mass Effect 2 is going to be great!

But it's nice to see you around here again. I've honestly not played Oblivion in nearly a year. If you find any specific problems with running Oblivion on Windows 7 let us know, I just installed it last week. Soooo shiny and new
