P.S.: still haven't seen the bloody godrays i think i should wait for a better version of it? maybe my Gcard can't reproduce them? i honestly don't know seeing as i only get sunglare at all times..from sunrise to sunset :( which is a shame cause i even got the first version of the godrays and still got no results...i'm using the 3.4 now though



Is it possible enabling 3.0 shaders in the Oblivion.ini is needed to see them?

bAllow30Shaders=0 - If set to 1, this option allows (but does not force) the use of Shader Model 3.0 on graphics cards which support it, namely Nvidia GeForce 6600 or newer, or ATI X1000 series or newer. This can potentially improve performance when using HDR rendering for example. Check your RendererInfo.txt file in your \Documents and Settings\User\Documents\My Games\Oblivion directory to see if your card supports SM3.0 next to the option '3.0 Shaders'. Note however that even by enabling this option, Oblivion still appears to use 2.0 shaders (check the 'PSTarget' and 'VSTarget' lines in Rendererinfo.txt). In any case, if you have one of the cards mentioned above, it cannot hurt to enable this option.



Update: To force the actual use of 3.0 Shaders after making the above change, you will also need to check your RenderInfo.txt file (see above), and on the last line of the file check which shader package it uses (e.g. Shader Package : 13). Then go to the \Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Shaders\ folder and rename that particular package to something else (e.g. rename shaderpackage013.sdp to shaderpackage013._bak. Now copy shaderpackage019.sdp and paste it back into the same directory, and rename this new copy to the package name your card uses (e.g. rename it to shaderpackage013.sdp in this example). This will force Oblivion to use the Shader Model 3.0 shaders in the game, which may increase (or reduce) performance and typically shows no image quality difference.


all i have in my shaderlist.txt is

ssao_test.fx
timelygodraysv3.fx

and i see them standing under a tree early morning on a sunny day.

No, I'm pretty sure that setting does nothing to do with this. I don't have that enabled, and I see godrays fine. It's more likely that his problems are due to whatever is causing the OBGEv2 log to display those errors.

How many people do you need to tell you that you won't see godrays if you have the depth buffer disabled? Scanti and I have already told you that, and it's in the OP too. :facepalm:

Enable depth buffer in your OBGE.ini, and then we can continue.

The end part is where I alt-tabbed out, that's not important. What is important though is that our shaders are being loaded differently. What is your shaderlist.txt now, and are you using the latest OBSE beta?

EDIT: @ shadeMe: A bug report for you. Someone posted at Nexus saying that the CelShader they disabled was being reloaded whenever he loaded a save game with it disabled. I can replicate this, here's my log:

The original loaded savegame is one with CelShader ctrl-disabled. The game loads as it should, but then after a second or so the CelShader is applied. It looks like loaded shaders are being remembered, but then the unloaded ones are being applied anyway. Serialisation is enabled. I think this is due to the support plugin, as that delay suggests it is something within Oblivion's scripting. Any chance of getting this fixed?

my shaderlist.txt only has ssao_perf.fx has you told me to set it and yes i'm using the latest obse beta

Try removing ssao_test from your shaderlist.txt. I have a feeling that it's loading later than everything else and causing your screen to mess up.

As for not being able to tweak any of the settings the Support Plugin has to offer, as reported at least once in this thread allready, I can attest that it doesn't work for me either. All the shaders load allright according to the logs,and I can access the misc item in the inventory. Closing inventory -> the window popups-> clicking any of the shaders listed -> tweakable options shows-> clicking any of the options and the window closes.

And I'm not using the shaderlist file. Could the fact that it's there in the shader folder and empty disable the tweak-functions of the support plugin??

Try removing ssao_test from your shaderlist.txt. I have a feeling that it's loading later than everything else and causing your screen to mess up.

already removed it from the shader list,still got the same result :/

No, the shaderlist.txt being empty doesn't affect the support plugin. Make sure you're using the updated shaders at Nexus, only those ones support variable altering.

No, the shaderlist.txt being empty doesn't affect the support plugin. Make sure you're using the updated shaders at Nexus, only those ones support variable altering.

i am using the updated versions of the shaders aswell

EDIT: @ shadeMe: A bug report for you. Someone posted at Nexus saying that the CelShader they disabled was being reloaded whenever he loaded a save game with it disabled. I can replicate this, here's my log:


The original loaded savegame is one with CelShader ctrl-disabled. The game loads as it should, but then after a second or so the CelShader is applied. It looks like loaded shaders are being remembered, but then the unloaded ones are being applied anyway. Serialisation is enabled. I think this is due to the support plugin, as that delay suggests it is something within Oblivion's scripting. Any chance of getting this fixed?
Is CelShader the only one that behaves delinquently ? I can't seem to reproduce the issue on my end - All toggle states are correctly set.

Now I know why it didn't work for me. My character was on horseback. On a hunch I got off and hoopla! Tweak menu works. :lol:

Turn off your anti-aliasing.


We seem to be going around and around in circles. We tell you how to fix OBSEv2 and you fix it. Then for some strange reason you then change the settings back to when it wasn't working and complain it's not working again.

Just to clarify. For the godrays to work you must have the depth buffer enabled in the OBSE.ini file and your anti-aliasing must be switched off. If you change those settings to something else then the godrays shader will stop working again.

I'm working on a solution so you'll be able to enable anti-aliasing in the future but for now it has to be switched off.

I'm sorry but this is the last time I'm going to repeat the solution that I've given you before. If you want to ignore our advice then we will stop giving it.

Nice. I take that it involves the appliance of the effect after rendering the depth buffer to a texture ? I heard that MGE supports AA - Any idea how it's implemented ?

PS : If I may, I'd like to request CSAA over SS/MS AA.

Oh, and the effect that's making you dizzy is the sharpening shader. You don't have to have everything enabled, you know.

Can I suggest for support plugin to have a visual indicator for disabled effects? Bold, colored letters maybe for active shaders. And default must be all effects disabled, IMO.

Your log seems fine, maybe it is your graphics card. Update your graphics card drivers. If depthbuffer is crashing your game, use the effects don't need depthbuffer for now. That means no DoF, SSAO, Godrays. :(
