Have you enabled DepthBuffer ?
Look at your obge.ini and set bUseDepthBuffer to 1.

Where is the OBGE.ini supposed to be? I can't seem to find it.

For me, that would be My Documents\My Games\Oblivion. ymmv.

HI all, been following this thread since well...thread...six? lol anyways, I have been astounded by the quality of work going on here and was wondering if it was possible to incorporate a couple of nifskope functions ingame.

Heres my thread regarding SubSurfaceScattering
http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1081874-sub-surface-scattering/page__p__15769969__hl__sss__fromsearch__1&#entry15769969

I didnt understand much of what Ghogiel said, but if i understood correctly, the shaders in nifskope differ from the ones in the gamebryo engine rendering

Impossible without shader changes.

Any possibility you all could work on that?

Keep up the good work,
Payton

2 days... 2 whole days, well evenings, trying to get Godrays to work.

I really didnt want to post this, Im really, really sorry for being "that guy" the one who interupts progressive, important on topic discussion that will advance these works of art further onto even more outstandingly beautiful territories. I wanted to find someone else whom has experienced the same porblem and solved it, then copy them. I do not usually ask for help, I try and solve things, and I have nearly always solved the problems I have encountered, BUT!

I have everything working besides Godrays, THE BEST ONE!

I am in no way bashing this EPIC work, its probably the best group of mods/effects for oblivion I have come across and the hard work is not only tremendous but is still ongoing.

PLEASE, can someone advise me on how I could possibly get Godrays to work, I have an ATI SapphireHD 5850.

I have tried to change godrays.fx to... godrays43.fx and add this to the shaderlist, then in-game typed "showgodrays34", tried "show godrays43" neither worked. I played around with godrays through the support pluggin and the only thing I noticed when enabling/disabling is that the luminosity arounf the sun darkened to some small extent when disabled.

I have tried using timelygodraysv3, again adding this to the shaderlist, but nothing.

I have disabled the support pluggin and tried running only godrays via the shaderlist

I have started a new game and done all of the above once more.

I am making sure that the times of day fall within the recomended times as per the official thread.

I have put the obge.ini in the right place

I have made sure that the FOV matches that of Godrays

I have no mods enabled that chnage the whether, sky or day length

I have tried the latest shaders, making sure they are in the correct locations.

I have looked everywhere, and have seen others with the same problem, but the solutions that some of these people found either doesnt work for me, or I am not doing it properly.

It was said that the problems with ATI cards has been sorted, so if anyone can shed any light on this problem I will be forever grateful.

please, dont make me beg. I will though as this mod seems worth begging for.

Really wouldn't worry about it. Stuff happens. But that's from another user, not one of the OBGE team, and I certainly won't try and claim I'm speaking for them. But I suspect they'd probably see it similarly, at worst. Anyway...

It was said that the problems with ATI cards has been sorted, so if anyone can shed any light on this problem I will be forever grateful.

DIdn't even know there was one. And I'm using a 5870 myself, fwiw.

All I have in my shaderlist.txt is Godrays.fx followed by pressing "Enter". The other effects, I enable, or not, via the in-game options menu. Mind you, I don't currently use DoF, so perhaps that would also need to go in shaderlist.txt; I don't know.

I did copy v4 of Godrays over the original. I haven't named it godrays43 or the like. Just godrays.fx still.

Full disclosure: I am using only SSAO_test with default settings and a few minor tweaks in ColorEffects, from the in-game menu. Other than that, it's mods, Oblivion.ini tweaks, and Godrays sitting by itself in shaderlist.txt. That's my setup. Oh, and with AA+AF forced via CCC, but I'm not entirely sure that's working as it should be. Oh well. :)

I'm not sure you even need the shaderlist text file, just dump them in your shader directory, and enable them in game through the inventory menu..

Me personally, that's exactly what I did - several times even, just to make sure.* :) Godrays just wouldn't work, no matter what little changes I otherwise made.

So, shaderlist.txt it was. And it works, as of then.

* edit: After reading up as much as possible on it.

My post on how I solved the issue with my 4870x2 was a bit unclear...I'll try to lay out the steps a bit more carefully. Hopefully my solution will work for you, too. :)

Go to the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30054 page and download the file labeled "Godrays for Oblivion v4" with the posted date of 04 April 2010. This is the latest Godrays shader file, and the one that worked for me--the one in the pack did not.

Unzip the file. The contents of the \textures folder should, obviously, go in your \Data Files\Textures folder; likewise, the contents of the \shaders folder should go into \Data Files\Shaders. Do not rename the .fx file; just put it in your Shaders folder as is. Overwrite any previous godrays shaders as necessary.

If you don't have a file in your Shaders folder called "shaderlist.txt," create one. In this .txt file, type the following: Godrays.fx. Not godrays43, or anything like that. That's the only shader I have in that file, so I don't know if order matters if you're working with multiple .fx files that need a shaderlist.txt. Save and exit.

Launch Oblivion. In the OBGE support plugin, de-activate the option for Godrays. Godrays should now be working properly.

Thank you so, so much, it now works, B***dy fantastic!!!

I am seriously tempted to call in sick for work now.

It must have been the shaders that were in the 1st pack I downloaded, after I got Godrays v4 and followed your instructions Tyraa Rane, it worked. I do feel slightly silly, but nowhere near silly as I do happy.

Thanks for the help & thanks to the people who made this brilliant mod

Will someone explain to a layman what SSAO is? And what ambient occlusion in general is? And please be more explicit than a one-sentence definition.

Sometimes, checking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_Space_Ambient_Occlusion will do. Actually, turns out that's the first link Google provided for "SSAO" anyway (for me).

Just tried this out. Everything seems to work okay except for the OBSE itself. I can open the OBSE controls in game, and adjust them, but I see no difference no matter how high or low I go. Am I missing something?

Hi everybody I'm back.

Sorry I've been away for a while but due to staff shortages I've been working way to much and getting pretty depressed about it. Also other 'legal' stuff that meant I was spending lots and lots of my spare time on the phone talking to people who were supposed to sort out the problem but usually just made it worse, which meant more phone calls to fix the additional problems. :(

Writing OBGE was supposed to be fun but as I had very little free time it was starting to become a chore. So I decided to take a break for a while.

Anyway things are now better at work and all my overtime means I've bought myself a new laptop. (An ASUS Aspire 5740G with the i3 processor and ATI HD5650 GPU). I'm transfering all my stuff over to the new laptop. Once that's done I'll start work on the project again. My new graphics card means I can try out a feature that newer ATI cards have. The ability use the depth buffer and have anti-aliasing switched on.

Been messing around with color effects, colour mood, and my personal test bloom shader. The combination turned out good so I figured I'd add them to the OBGE photo gallery.
