Oblivion Graphics Extender, Thread 16

Post » Sun Jun 20, 2010 6:55 am

Ok I finally found the correct thread and after reinstalling directx and fixing my shaderlist.txt its working but my FPS got decimated, quite literally reduced to 1/10th. Its terrible.
I have a Voodo Firebird running vista with two geforce 9800 cards SLI and 4 gig ram with 1 gig on the cards. Is the OBGE working right... I know its intensive but damn son Any suggestions?

I only have a Laptop with 4GB DDR3, Intel Core Duo2 2.8 GHz,and NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 1 GB. And it't hooked up to my 47 in Vizio via HDMI lol.
I have everythig on Oblivion settings all the way up except for Internal and External Shadows which are all the way down and I'm using HDR.
Im running Godrays with default V4 settings and ColorMood settings I set to f:1 R:0.5 B:0.5 G:0.5
However I'm also using SSAO and Bloom from EBSeries. (Also I could only get the old version from ENBSeries to wrok from tesnexus and I'm using the ENBSeries effect too.) Also you can just hit Shift + F12 to turn on/off ENBSeries in game.

SSAO from ENBSeries has a very subtle FPS hit even for my setup and Bloom has no FPS for my setup. With all these things on I'm running at about 9/10 FPS as w/o all of them.
The only issue is you can't adjust ENBSeries in game. Also through ENBSeries make sure you disable Occlusion through the effects because you still get the effects from SSAO settings but w/o the FPS hit for some odd reason.
Also be careful with the ColorCorrections in ENBSeries if you don't have night and day settings at the same settings they can recognize a very dark area during the daytime as night and vice versa which can drastically darken the entire area on your screen during day and brighten everything up during night if you for example get really close to torches or something.

I'm using default Bloom Settings so here is my SSAO settings. (Anything with Quality ranges from 0-2 with 0 being maximal quality.) Remember to set EnableOcclusion=0 under [Effects] to reduce FPS hit.

[SSAO]
UseFilter=1
OcclusionQuality=0
FilterQuality=0
DarkeningLevel=30
BrighteningLevel=30
IlluminationLevel=30
AdditiveIlluminationLevel=30
UseAmbientOcclusion=1
UseIndirectLighting=0
FadeDistance=80
UseForAlphaTest=0
UseForAlphaBlend=0

The color correction effect for the Oblivion Version is horrible in my opinion (too much contrast.) You should try the color correction effect file from the NBA version of ENB. Some screens..

Suddenly, downloads of NBA color correction for ENBSeries go through the roof... :lol:

I imagine many will take note of that, because, as you say, the Oblivion settings are (by default) pretty damn awful.

Hm. Any more tips - for ENB, or for OBGE settings?

Can the OBGE by itself (No shaders on) cause a small FPS hit?

Also, as soon as I start my save my entire screen begins to flicker. It's hard to explain. Example, I killed a deer and around 30 seconds later that image of the dead deer began to flicker on and off over my screen.

I'm sure I installed it right and using the new fixed dll.
Using a 480GTX if that helps.

Help?

I checked the NBA version of ENB on that site, but there isn't a color correction file in the download, just the INI and DLL files.

Help?

Dunno, but have you tried one or more of the "black screen" fixes for Nvidia cards - for Oblivion, that is?

The one time I tried an Nvidia card with Oblivion, it was a nightmare... until I discovered such fixes. Then it was fine, in that regard.

edit: Pretty sure you can pick up one or more at the Nexus, and - from memory - the Bashed Patch in Wrye Bash offers some of the same functionality, if you use that.

Found a bug I think(didn't notice it when I wasn't using Obge): When I look down from a highrise point towards, for example Imperial City the Lod is messed up:http://www.shrani.si/f/f/wc/41oMWT5P/screenshot27.png When I am on a lower attitude the problem appars as jaggedines (hope that's the word) on the water/land edge. The card I'm using is Ati radeon Mobility HD 3470 and I have only Color Mood applied.

Another question: How do I get the Crysis DoF from the opening post to work properly. I load it up by shaderlist.txt but everything gets blurred. And if someone is using it can you please tell me if it's better than the one that's bundeled in the package on TesNexus?

Thanks in advance!

I have a question for the OBGEv2 team, it's about the game caching textures used by the UI. Now I know this may not really be graphics-related but I recall seeing a function in the old OBGE that could load/unload textures from memory (I'm talking about http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Oblivion_Graphics_Extender). I haven't tested if that function works for my intended purpose but I'd like a way to purge just a single texture from memory. Or atleast tell the game that it needs to re-read the texture from the harddrive.

Basically I'd like to know how I might reload a texture after it has been used in the UI (in which case it is cached into memory from what I can tell). :)

Hello! I am having a problem with AA in my game, and I think it may possibly be from this mod.

I installed OBGE with ScreenEffects yesterday. I absolutely loved them both, but I couldn't handle having no AA, as I'm kind of a stickler for smooth edges. So I uninstalled OBGE and ScreenEffects, but I still can't get any AA in my game. I've removed everything added by OBGE and ScreenEffects, as well as their .ini files, but I still cannot get AA to show up in my game. I have set it through Rivatuner, nHancer, and my Nvidia profiles, but none of the settings take effect. I've also renamed the Oblivion .ini to have it generate a new one, but that didn't change anything either.

I don't know that this is something brought on by OBGE, and if it is, I'm sure it's because I'm doing something wrong, but I wondered if you guys had any suggestions for me. The game ran AA before just fine with my video drivers, so I doubt it's that.

Specs:
OS: Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 3.28 GHz
Ram: 3.50 GB
Video Card: Nvidia 8800 GTS 512
Video Card Drivers: 169.06 (I know that's a little old, but the game worked perfectly fine with them before, and I've had better luck with these drivers than newer ones from Nvidia)

Already used the bashed patch feature. The problem is unrelated to a black screen. The screen keeps flickering with the same picture. It really hard to explain.

Hi OBGE developers: I received a report recently that OBGE was causing a crash on exit. Someone else has reported the same thing in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1109327-fast-exit-made-obsolete-by-obge/. The crash happens at 0x00803832 in code that appears to traverse a NiTPointerList, most likely caused by a non-null list node with a null data pointer.
