Oblivion installation

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:49 am

Hi,

So I got my new laptop and the first thing I did was attempt to install Oblivion.

The loading bar keeps stopping at Launcher Music.wav and it really bugged me.
So after the 6th time I quit, I tried again, but it said it was already installed. So I clicked 'play' but it said it wasn't installed. I tried to uninstall it but it said it was already installed again.
So I try to just install it again, but it said it was already installed.

Help, I'm just so confused :brokencomputer:

Thanks

If it sticks at the same point reading the disk, there are two possible situations.

The disk is scratched or dirty and it keeps trying again to read the same piece of the surface. Clean or replace it.

Or the drive has a problem preventing the head from moving across the whole disk. You could check that out by playing an Audio CD and sampling each track.

It can't be 2, because Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 work. It must be scratched.

I found out what's wrong: Error code 5001. Stupid resources relying on other resources :S

LOL. I ran the disc and opened the Oblivion folder. Just needed to reinstall.

I don't think the disc is scratched, because you may a registry issue here and there is a solution for this. :user:

- Download http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/registry-cleaner/download/ for an installation and run it
- Try to uninstall Oblivion and reboot your computer
- Remove the folders for Oblivion and use http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/download/ to check your hdd
- Reboot your PC and install Oblivion with another reboot once you have finished the installation

Good luck and enjoy the game. :)
