Oblivion's Khajiit

Post » Fri Jun 18, 2010 8:05 pm

From what I understand, the Khajiit seen in Morrowind are representatives of the Suthay-raht. What breed of Khajiit are seen in Oblivion? They don't look like any of the descriptions that I've read about in the lore. Does anybody know?

The same, but a different design on the legs, so armor can be homogeneous.

There's more differences than just the legs between Morrowind's Khajiit and Oblivion's...

Gameplay mechanics. The two khajiit are supposed to be the same species of khajiit. As such, we've only seen 3 types of Khajiit: Suthay-raht (MW & OB), Omhes-raht (DF), and Omhes (Arena).

Are they? They are obviously Suthay, not Suthay-rath.

whatever. It's the difference between a bigger and a smaller khajiit of that breed. But...the Imperial Library notes that it's the Suthay-rahts that were in MW, so I'm going with the ones in MW and OB were the -raht form.

Thought that was the Omhes, well a furry, cat-like bosmer with tattoos. The -raht version looking more like humans, but same deal.

Seems to me they're Ohmes-raht:

Similar to the race of men, save for their short, light-colored fur, the Ohmes-raht may easily be mistaken as men at a distance. Unlike the many other species of Khajiit, who walk, like cats, upon the balls of their feet, the Ohmes-raht walk upon their heels. The Ohmes-raht are most likely the type of Khajiit usually encountered in Cyrodiil.

Khajiit in Oblivion are pretty much the same as men, except for their tails and fur. Not to mention the last bit about Cyrodiil

Though the UESP isn't the best source, so I could be wrong.

EDIT: Found a http://www.imperial-library.info/interviews/jobasha.shtml, for what it's worth.

Yes Ohmes, wait no. As Hellmouth said, Ohmes are mer-like.

There is but one option before us, dear inquirers: http://www.tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=conceptart§ion=15266!

No, the omhes-Raht really do look like humans, only with a light amount of fur and a tail. They're in Daggerfall, and the leader kahjiit escourt in the book was an ohmes-raht. Here are some pics I found of what they look like:

Morrowind's and Oblivion's Khajiit cannot be the same breed. The head shapes and fur patterns greatly differ.

Most races in TES:III look quite different than the ones in TES:IV, but regardless they're the same race.

No they don't. Only the Argonians and Khajiit look different, which leads me to believe that Bethesda was trying to show us different species from each race.

 I had thought they were different, but what do I know? I know the biggest difference I can see is the legs and feet, but I don't know why they would congregate in Morrowind and the others in Cyrodiil.

Bosmer looked like http://www.imperial-library.info/races/mw_woodelf.gif in the first Pocket Guide. Mutant Gelflings. Even in Morrowind, their eyes were black as [black] pearls and sported ugly horns. I assure you, they are the same breed reshaped for armor to fit and animations to remain basic.

They didn't have horns in MW, but they sure has hell had the darkest, and blackest eyes I have seen. It's like staring into the void with those guys.

I think that the best thing would be for MK to reply in this thread and give us the answer. I wonder how likely that is to happen...

Those are Bosmer? I thought that just the one on top was Bosmer with the one in the middle being an Imga and I couldn't decide what the one on bottom was... I'm glad that they didn't look like that in Morrowind.

What? No! Use your noodle; I gave you material for you to decide, since you didn't like the idea that the MW and OB khajiit are the same.

They seem like a cross between the Ohmes-raht and the Suthay-raht. The link that you provided says that nothing is known about the Tojay and the Tojay-raht, perhaps they're one of these?

Not likely to be Tojay, otherwise we'd know more about them. Besides, in the UESP http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Khajiit#Morphology, it mentions the Tojay types are still located in Elsewyer and not known to inhabit Cyrodiil.

Then that leaves just the Tojay-raht as an option.
