Oblivion Mod Newsletter

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:10 pm

So I was looking around on the internet, trying to find a newsletter for Oblivion (and Morrowind) that would show me highlights from the month's (or weeks) best mods. And I couldn't find any that were up to date. So I thought, why don't I start my own? Well, would anybody be willing to help?
If I was to make one, I would need a team and the entire communities’ help. I think we could do a thing like "The Best Mod of the Month" section, a "Best Screenshot of the Month" and things like that similar to what TESNexus does, but in a newsletter that people would be emailed monthly (or weekly). Another part could be a little "WIP" section detailing the movement on someone's progress on their project. It would be based on an unbiased opinion, so if I like a certain mod, i couldn't just say it was the best. We could have people vote on them, and the winner and runner up would receive a faux-prize, sort of like a .nif trophy or something.
Does this sound like a good idea that the community as a whole would be interested in? If so, please tell me, and please, I'm begging you, please add any ideas that sounds good. If this does sound like an idea that may be popular, maybe I could start it up.
Please Comment.

I have long thought it would be great to have an electronic newsletter devoted to Oblivion mods. This modding community is a big one so there should be lots of content to be included. It would be excellent to know which mods are in development and what their state of completeness is. I would certainly read it but I am not sure if I could contribute.

Well, for starters, you will have to try out a lot of mods, so be prepared for a lot of legwork to cope up with stability issues. Then there are mods in other sites apart from Nexus (TESAlliance) that you'd have to look into. Not to mention other languages (but as this would be an English language newsletter, you can skip those mods in other languages).

Doesn't tesnexus aleady have a file of the month etc.? I agree that it is not a newsletter, and the rankings are just popular votes that tend to get skewed. That said, a newsletter would be a refreshing change. :goodjob:

PS: Didn't someone create a blog about mods recently? I have seen that thread on the forums quite often...

 That would be me. And yes, I do update it semi-regularly and multiple times a month. It's not always the latest mods, but I do tend to focus only on mods stay up to date and such. You can find it by following the second link in my signature.
