Good interview DragoonWraith! It's nice to finally be able to put a face and background to the name.

Hehe, I am apparently the longest winded BethBlog interviewee yet. Even after he edited out a bunch of my rambling! ;)

Anyway, I think the interviews have been pretty cool. One of the things Gstaff cut was my comments on that - I was originally pretty opposed to them for a bunch of reasons. But I was wrong, they've turned out really cool. And, of course, heh, it's an honor to be interviewed.

Thanks to everyone who read!

Btw, I just noticed my Inbox was full - I don't know if anyone tried to contact me, but if you did, I didn't get it.

Again, thanks for doing the interview....great work.

Thanks DW, been waiting a long time for this one and I can honestly say that it's been the most informative interview to date. I was hoping to get some raw community history and that's exactly what I got.

There are so many devoted members in this community that have really carried the rest of us to the pinnacle point which we now enjoy. An enormous thank you to yourself and those you remembered to mention and those you forgot, to ALL the pillars of this community that never cease to amaze me with an abundance of talent, camaraderie and a continuing faith in Bethesda and their massively moddable open world rpgs. TFS

Hey cool, thank!

Great interview!

Thanks!

Glad I could help out. Frankly, it's so bizarre to me how much I remember that so many members weren't even here for. How bizarre it was to see, for example, raziel's "old TES modder returns" thread - when his entire modding career was a relatively recent event for me. Also impressive just how much we have managed to grow, even with the incredible talent that has left - if you suggested to me six years ago that, for example, Oblivion scripting would be doing just fine after years without Cortex (since he stuck with Morrowind), I wouldn't have believed it. The fact that this community is as talented as it is after having lost as much talent as it has, I think, is particularly incredible. I mean, real life comes up for everyone, and this is just a hobby - people come and go, even the really talented ones. The fact that, despite this, we have such talent, is testament to this community.

TFS

Absolutely agreed. I was terrified composing that list of thanks - I know I've missed people. And I restricted it just to the Wiki - if I tried to talk about everyone who has worked so hard to help this community, I never would have finished. But it really needed to be done, I think, even though I couldn't do it as well as it deserved - because those people really have done so much. I just hope no one takes that list as exclusive, because it's really not.

But, uh... what's "TFS"?

Long Live The BGMC

Oh hey, SG! That's awesome. Really, really glad to see her interviewed. She's one of my favorite modders of all time, easily.

Heh, she's also the reason that I hate Oblivion's loss of Levitation. Not because the spell itself was so important to me - but because it was important to her, and without it she didn't want to mod Oblivion - and that, I definitely find important.

I didn't know she was still modding Morrowind. That's awesome.

As another Blog suggestion, the TES Alliance Halloween contest would make an outstanding entry. :D A community modding contest with a dozen modders all crafting levels for a single mod in less than a month that will be released in a few days? You want an example of what the ES community can do when it comes together, it doesn't get better than this.

 Doom on Itunes? Really?

There's a story you know, about the American Revolution. King George kept a diary and wrote in it every day. On July 4th, the day we declared our Independence, his diary entry reads "Nothing interesting happened today."

16 modders in the Oblivion Community get together and create a dozen level, epic dungeon crawl for Halloween in under a month, something unprecedented and noteworthy if for nothing else than putting to rest the rumor that Oblivion modding is dying and no one can think of anything better to write about than classic Doom coming to Itunes? It's not even a Bethesda game.

Suddenly I begin to understand why the Oblivion community is beginning to feel ignored. :shakehead:

Hey, quit poking the man you! :poke:

We'll snag that October 31st blog spot next year with what I have planned. We'll just need to make a bigger impression next go around! ;)

@Gstaff- If none of those recommends panned out, I'll nominate Middark for his epic Heart of the Dead quest mod, and he's a cool bloke to boot! :goodjob:

 They copy/pasted Sulteric's http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/blog/1/entry-14-behind-the-construction-set-sultericdrums/ word for word in the BethBlog? Um, how original.

Edit: I withdraw my former ire now that I understand just who was behind this screw up of galactic proportions. :lmao: No fault to you GStaff. :foodndrink:

I'd like to make a serious case for http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showuser=437457. :D That he hasn't been seriously considered for an interview yet is, well, tragic. He's made considerable contributions to the Oblivion Modding Community. He has released numerous Resources:

http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=37
http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=113
http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=77
http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=161
http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=35
http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=36

As well as http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=1 which is actually a teaser for his epic Quest mod, http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1010303&hl= which is now very near release.

In addition to that he recently spearheaded a community wide challenge to create a memorable dungeon crawl for Halloween, http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=190. A dozen modders all working together to create one large scale quest mod, completed in record time and released on schedule.

He is also the creator of the http://www.tesalliance.org/. This site has grown from a small forum to a large community http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=downloads modders but offering http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?app=gallery, http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/blogs/, http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/index, private project forums for modding teams in need of a home, and most importantly http://www.invision.tesalliance.org/forums/index.php?/forum/41-the-enclave-the-first-es-modding-school/. TESA's modding school. It offers classes in everything from opening the CS for the first time, to advance scripting with WillieSea and modeling with Vince. Even to walking new modders step by step through the process of creating their first mod and helping them to make it release ready, getting them over that first big hump.

He has created one of the more unique and welcoming communities out there, attracting both skilled modders happy to teach what they know and new modders in need of help. All this while still working daily on his own large mod and bringing it steadily closer to completion every day. He deserves some recognition from the community he tirelessly and quietly does his best to help every day. I do hope you will consider him for a future interview. :D
