Oblivion Modder interviews for Bethblog

Post » Fri May 21, 2010 4:35 pm

May I suggest that (if it has not already been done) one of our amateur play testers get an interview some time?

They really are unsung heroes of modding.

They get a lot of the unfun labor (not creative) work of modding and almost no credit.

They often must spend hours doing the same thing over and over.

Good play testers for mods are so very hard to find, but I have been blessed with several excellent ones on my last few projects and
they made a world of difference in the quality of my Duke Patrick combat mods.

I think that would be cool. Any names that you might have off the top of your head?

I agree in the fact that Mr_Siika should be considered. He has done an awesome job and has some of the best modder's resources out there. In addition, I have found that he is very helpful with requests as well.

to answer your question here are some that I have worked with:

Arwen (Lore Research, Concept Contributor and Play Tester.)

"Arwen is a non-traditional (as in older) college student at Roger Williams University, where she will be a senior this fall attempting to complete a dual major while being a varsity athlete (sailing team). She admits to being rather obsessive when it comes to realism and immersion in RPGs.

Katnap ( Bug Slayer, Concept Contributor and Play Tester.)
I've been playing pc games for a while now, have a husband and kids who have at times taken second place to the pc.

Leandro Conde ( Moral Suport, Concept Contributor and Play Tester.)

I think that would be cool. Any names that you might have off the top of your head?

Well in that case, I second them all and hopefully they accept.

If you can retain consciousness without falling out of your chair while reading the interview, then I applaud you!

But really, it was fun. :coolvaultboy:
A little perspective on myself, plus a goofy picture to go along with it.

Pic is so awesome.

I'm trying to work on getting some new interviews put together. Sorry, it's been a little hectic the last week or so.

Ah, I wouldn't sweat it gstaff, we all know you have other duties besides these forums and besides someone has to do the dirty work of getting the public ready for FO3. But thanks for checking in anyway, it's good to be kept in the loop.

 It was well worth the wait! I wish I hadn't been taking a break from the forum when the interview was released. Anyway, that picture is priceless! :D

Your interview made me appreciate the modding community a bit more. I had no idea how hard it was to mod back in the 80s/90s.

Quarl - Seconded!
the Play testers: SECONDED!
also, i dont know if its been done yet, but the public veiw on modding would be quite cool - like, say there is somebody here who doesnt mod, but plays, the game? interview THEM, and see what their perspective on the modding world is.

I second that ... What it's being done by him it's an enormous job and with peaks of the highest quality. W.r.t the play testers, I don't know  ... :P

I would also want to see interviewed the guys that are helping others most of the time here, cos they're heroes. I wouldn't like to forget anyone of them, but Arkngt, showler, Shikishima, wmj, Axil, Luchaire, Darina, lillith, display name already in use (Vorians), etc (I'm sure I am forgetting someone and I hate me for that) are those that come to my mind now.

Best regards,
leandro

EDIT: added suggestion

Helborne, he is really giving Mr_Siika and Jannix Quinn a run for their money when it comes to providing the community with resources. All three of these guys are awesome and well deserving of the spotlight.

So you guys had better catch him quick, if you want an interview.

 I know he will return. We will see him again one day. He will probably just pop in unannounced with some useful modders resource for download. :)

An interview from him would be nice, though. I always wondered what drove him to create so much stuff in so little time with no sacrifice of quality.

I hope Qarl will get interviewed, in case he is still around. He has done some amazing work with his Texture Packs.
