I picked Oblivion, as it is my favorite. However, both are great. I would get both. Together, they are only $30 or $40.

Save yourself a thread, some flaming and some moderator time and buy Morrowind... feeling adventurous? Buy both, both are good.

It's intentional. I am trying to prove a point to a friend. He argued older games ALWAYS win in the official forums, no matter which forum, so I will give this a week, copy down the address, and have him look it up.

Morrowind does seem to be more popular overall on the Bethesda Forums. Honestly though, both are amazing.

Then again, this poll is quite bias towards the fact that its in a Oblivion Section.

I would account this to the fact that many Morrowind players probably joined the forums after they didn't like Oblivion, just as many Oblivion players will when they don't like TESV. The next game in a series can never please everyone, and the supporters never get on and voice their opinions as much as the ones who don't like it.

Those kinds of posts begin flame wars. I think you should make it clear that this is only your opinion.(in my opinion)

Never, that is why some people would start flaming because of posts saying one game is superior.

i would definatly get oblivion
ive played both and its just that oblivion is more updated and what not-mostly graphics(which i dont care about much-i play old crappier looking games all the time=ya know, halflife!. and a whole bunch other, even morrowind) but i think the better graphics make the experience that much better

also the combat system i think is better, after playing morrowing and oblivion, i would much prefer fighting people in that 10x more than morrowind

on the other hand though, i think morrowind has many other things that own over oblivion. those could be the better armor system, because i think that having all different pieces is just awesome, you can practically make your own in that. i mean theres the couldrons, the arm pieces, main brest plate, arm armor and i even think the gloves are seperate. the greaves you would find in oblivion are also seperated into a few peices i think. i also like how you can pick up all the different kinds of candles as a source of light

theres a lot of things that morrowind has that havent passed onto oblivion (maybe to make it less complicated for noobs?) but oblivion improves morrowind by so much at the same time

while taking away some of the fun and complications in morrowind, oblivion improves many things, and improvments make for a funner gameplay for me, even if it means sacrifcing a few things (better graphics and combat VS. better costumes and toys)

if only they could just be combined....maybe TESV will have everything we missed out in oblivion, and things that couldnt exist for morrowind

Calm down. Since this subject is entirely opinion based, it meaningless to argue about it.
And I don't have anything against Oblivion, or Morrowind. And why not buy both, but I would start playing Morrowind just because it is the earlier
part of the series.

I have no meaning to start any kind of flame war here, but I'm sure that this subject is highly flamable anyway :(

I wasn't angry when I said that. I was just stating it. We should let this topic get back on-topic.

I would vote but you didn't put "both" as an option. They are so cheap now you can't lose! Years of fun!

I would get all four TES games . Altogether, all four TES games(excluding spinoffs) are only $40.

If you're buying the PC version, get Oblivion. Its combat system and graphics are much better, and mods add rich lore and whole questlines.
However, if you're buying an xbox, choose Morrowind, as the vanilla game is a better rpg than Oblivion.

Mods can't add lore. Lore is canon, mods aren't

Heh. The one spinoff I bought recently (Redguard) was $40. And getting the hard-copy of the Redguard comic book and the 1st Pocket Guide alone was worth the $40.

Good thing Daggerfall and Arena are completely free, minus the hassle of setting them up. Sad day that they don't come with PDFs of their manuals. :(

I would say, if you could only choose one for some ridiculous reason such as pain of death, then I would get Morrowind. Not as flashy, but infinitely deeper.

While I agree with your sentiment, it's ironic that most of the lore that's actually discussed anymore is technically not "canon" lore. It's http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/ posted by developers and ex-developers, but it's not in the game and therefore is not canon. Yet despite not being canon, they are far more interesting and far more enriching to the ES universe than anything canon, save perhaps the 36 Lessons of Vivec.

If a developer says or writes something on the series, it is canon.

Morrowind.

Get Morrowind if you want to experience an adveture, to start as a scum, but with time and experience become a hero. Meet character that have many things to say, wander outside searching for a tomb, meet the gods.

Get Oblivion if you want a fast-paced action-RPG game. Mindlessly follow quest marker and have the possiblity to hear approx. 3 lines of text from a common citizen. Start as a hero and find one of the best armors on a bandit.

So get Morrowind.

PS. I don't want to begin a flame war. That is just my opinion. And i'm talking about vanilla games, mods can completly change these games.
