If you already got Oblivion then there's no reason not to get morrowind.

If you already got Oblivion then there's no reason not to get morrowind.

There are far too many reasons to count to get Morrowind.

Different pace of gameplay, different (greater) amount of character customization, different rules of the world (like no magicka regeneration and no 1-hour wait to get full HP, the ability to sleep in stolen beds, having to sleep for more than an hour to regenerate fully, etc), more quests, different dungeon styles and different approach to dungeons in general, and many more.

I prefer Morrowind, obviously, but Oblivion has its own merits, just not many that I like myself.

Of course, Shades it going to pop into this thread to say "Morrowind or Oblivion? Daggerfall rulez". Tehe

I started with Oblivion first so I could not put up with Morrowinds "worse" graphics or "harder" gameplay, so Oblivion for me

With the right graphics enhancing mods, anyone can switch from Oblivion to Morrowind and not be constantly obsessing over the graphics. Without there being a major difference in graphics, and when judging purely on the games themselves, Morrowind seems superior IMO.

If that the case, just get ya hand on Morrowind (preferably the PC version). It is advisable one should read the Morrowind for Oblivion Players that is link'd above carefully and figure out what ya getting into.

I like to play pure mage types, which leaves me very conflicted on Morrowind (especially if you intend to play without mods). The reason for this is simple: if you use magic, you're going to be spending a lot of time with your magic bar running on empty. The reason for this is threefold: first, there is no constant magic regeneration (there are mods for this, but they seem to be at a much slower rate than in Oblivion), second, you can't rest one hour to restore magicka, you only regain a small amount of health and magicka per hour rested, and third, magicka potions are relatively rare, at least the more powerful ones you need at higher levels.

On the other hand, and number of very cool spells got cut in the move from Morrowind to Oblivion. In particular, Alteration really got neutered, compared to how it was in Morrowind.

Having started my RPG obsession with accidentally buying, and loving, Morrowind, I think i'll always be a little biased toward it. Morrowind just has so much more content, storyline, and overall coolness. However, I love both games, and I think they are more or less on a comparably level.

not the best, but it has a way more paladin-ish feel if you get the knights of the nine uhh... expansion

EDIT: wait, morrowind, misread it as oblivion XD

morrowind .... uhm.... probably not your best choice for paladins

Is it even good for the xbox? Because I am thinking about it and no new RPGs are coming out until Divinity 2 in January.

Why do you think that? It isn't because the vanilla graphics are worse, is it? Because graphics don't make the game.

Though I'm being hypocritical because I can't stand games with bad graphics, but unlike most games Morrowind can be modded to look nice and shiny.

This is not the oblivion section. This is the "Elder scrolls" section.

I play both games. however I prefer Oblivion. But what you said, is partly wrong. From a graphical standpoint....Bethedas texture artists were...sub par they're stretched over models not ment for them, the animations were very lacking...this isn't a game breaker however does play a factor in the decision

But overall, it's wrong to say that Morrowind's vanilla graphics are even close to Oblivion's, let alone better.

MW is awesome but going from something so new to so old might be tough. if u can take the time to get into MW though, its prob the most amazing game ever. the way the game looks should be easy to get used to because theyre still great due to style, which somewht lacked in OB i thought. but id personally spend my money on a diff game.
