Oblivion Multiplayer Expansion

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:42 am

Do you think that T.E.S. Oblivion should have an online multiplayer? Here is the overview I came up with...

1. One player would hold a "Server" in which he/she could invite up to 3 other players to, or let anybody join into.
2. If any one player had to be "booted" the server-master would press the start button, select their name off the list (you wouldn't be able to pause while playing online), then select "Remove player"
3. The weapons and items in the player's Campaign profile CAN be used in the multiplayer mode, but not vice-versa (item multiplication would be FAR to easy.
4. Players can die, and have to be revived by another player using a spell, or by administering a potion.
5. Players would be able to play in the online mode only if they pass the tutorial, all levels would be welcome.
6. Players wouldn't be able to play together if they didn't have the same DLCs (to much conflicting data)

So, do you think my outline would make for a fun new game mode, the only thing im not sure on would be the price, I would say either a free download, or make it 800 MS points.

I'd love to have Online Multiplayer so I could duel my neighbor in an arena match :)

It'd also be cool for doing quests, if one player has something the other needs, they could trade, activate the play (Like an NPC) to have a conversation with the other player if they don't have a microphone, it'd be cool :)

It isn't going to happen.

Personnally I don't think it should since it would detact from the single player aspect.

But I think "they" want these discussion to go in this thread:

Further, it's worth noting that ZeniMax, parent company of Bethesda, has already created a sister company called ZeniMax Online Studios. If anyone's going to be doing anything with TES and Multiplayer, it will be them, and it will be its own game (not to say that they're really going to be doing anything with TES at all).

And Pete Hines has said on numerous occasions that Bethesda exclusively does single-player games.

Multiplayer functionality is not something that's going to get wide support around here. Most people who play these kinds of open-world free-roam games of the magnitude of TES do so to escape into their own little retreat, their own little world, and they don't desire even the option for multiplayer functionality in the slightest. And I have to agree with them.

Besides, I thought there was a mod out there already trying to achieve multiplayer Oblivion with too many problems. It just won't work.
