Oblivion Music Problem

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:55 pm

I had installed Oblivion for the first time about 6 months ago Ive always been able to reinstall and uninstall Oblivion with no problems what so ever and no problem with the music. I try to install now and the music is completely gone, I've tried nightmare2013's program and I've tried the Installed Codecs program and It still couldn't solve my problem. What should I do?

Does music and sound work in general, other than music in Oblivion? Like, music and sound in other games, playing MP3s, other sounds in Oblivion, etc., etc.

If so, have you at all modified the Oblivion.ini file? And if so, delete it (the one generally found in My Games\Oblivion, that is). Then start a new game - this will regenerate the ini - and see if that helps at all.

If it doesn't, or if you haven't modified the ini, or installed any weird mods that do stuff to music, or whatever, maybe try K-Lite Codec Pack (the latest Mega version, IIRC) and run "Quick Codec Config", choosing "detect broken codecs and filters". Does that help?

Besides all that, could you post a dxdiag? You never know what will show up there...

edit: What is "nightmare2013's program" anyway? And the "Installed Codecs program"...?

I downloaded the K-Lite Codec Pack It detected the broken Directshow filters, they were deleted and music now works on my game! Thanks so much!!!

By the way those 2 programs I said were supposed to fix reinstall and disable codecs until I found the broken one.

You're welcome. :) Glad to hear (ha ha) it's all up and running again.

Ah, OK. Just hadn't heard of them before.
