Oblivion Nords vs Skyrim Nords

Post » Sat Feb 15, 2014 5:35 am

I prefer Oblivion Nords, a joy to be around, actually felt like a separate race instead of just a taller Imperial, despite the "less intelligent" claims there's a variety of Nords ranging different intellect.

Skyrim Nords however are very sixy! And beards. But they seem like generic vikings, and so whiny aside from a handful.

I do however agree putting this in the Elder Scrolls discussion, less biased answers.

I choose Skyrim's Nords over Obivion's. Then again I almost always played a Dunmer in Oblivion. To me Oblivion is quirky fantasy with a light sense of humor. Skyrim is dark fantasy with a dark humor, any "silly" humor feel's forced in the setting.

I think Oblivion is a better game.

But when it comes to portrayal of races, NO race in Oblivion is better than Skyrim, that goes for Imperials too IMO.

I also found this claim to be odd, considering the NPC's in Oblivion have quite a bit of diversity and only occasionally portray racial stereotypes. In this regard it's second only to Morrowind, where even enemies were pretty diverse.

"Hah, look at that dumb smuggler snow chimp. I bet he's gonna whip out a hammer or-yup there he goes! Wait, is he shooting science beams at me from afar instead of chasing me with that hammer!?"

Only thing I can figure is that it's based on all the men having the same hurr durr voice.

Oh, fine. Skyrim's then.

Dang, now that I've thought the question over a bit more, I'm not really sure I can say I like one over the other. They may be more Imperialized in Skyrim, but in Oblivion even the Imperials were undeveloped.

Nah, I still like Oblivion's more. At least they didn't have the ever-so annoying "Proud Warrior Race" thing going back then.

I voted for Skyrim Nords, but both Games lack Naked Nords that had been tricked by Witches, or stripped down to avoid the Swealtering Heat of Mournhold.

Morrowind Nords were more or less the same as Oblivion Nords excluding the Skaal of course.

I like Skyrim's Nords better, only because they show you the actual lore and history of their people; show them as more than stereotypical mead-drinking whiny mercenaries in cheap armor. It's just so fitting that they'd be all about honor, prowess, and Sovngarde. I actually didn't mind the whole 'Proud Warrior Race' thing. Hell of a lot better than what we had in Oblivion or Morrowind when they constantly kept losing their clothes so some witch or other.
