He made the Bridge just as the western sky was starting to brighten, and he watched the activity already in full swing at the long structure, as merchants with wagons full of goods went past the armed guards who stood at the entrance of the city, spears glinting in the sunlight. It was not a pretty sight for Halion, and he knew Invisibility would not be enough, a there was too much activity on the Bridge. If he bumped into somebody and was discovered after his apparent "death" the result would not work out in his favor.
He opened the tome in his bag, and turned the page to a bookmarked section, flipping a few more pages till he found the appropriate spells. He raised his left hand, and rested it on his head, and began chanting, thinking of a deep auburn color, and finished the chant with a tingling feel in his fingers. He pulled his ponytail around, and saw his black hair was now an auburn color, as he release the string holding his hair back to let it hang about his shoulders.
He flipped the page once, and began chanting again, waving his finger around his eyes, and he felt the same tingling in his fingers as the spell finished. He could not see it, but he was sure his eye color had gone from light blue, to a deep green, and had lost some of its glint. Satisfied with the changes, he removed his robes, and walked out of the bushes with his enchanted tunic, and the pair of wool pants he wore underneath, as he slung the bag over his shoulder. With one last touch, he cast a spell of Chameleon on his bag, concealing it expertly and for a long duration.
He approached the guards at the Bridge, and gave them a warm, innocent smile as they observed him, one of them holding up their hand for the Altmer to stop. He wore a bored, rather disgruntled look, and had bags under his eyes, as the man was clearly tired from his shift.
"Name and business for leaving the City?" he asked wearily, checking Halion over once with his eyes.
"Maelin. Leaving for a trip to my uncle in Weye." he said easily, as he raised his finger slightly, and released a spell under his breath as the man looked across the Lake to the small town. "He is not well, and I have to help him with his fishing business." he added, though Charm spell had done it's job, and the man just waved Halion through, a smile on his face now towards the Altmer.
"Have a good trip sir." he replied, and Halion had to hold in a grin as the fellow guard looked at his friend incredulously, surprised at the change in demeanor.
"And you too." Halion said back to the guard, as he set out across the Bridge, glad for his power of Illusion, as only a few feet away, a group of tired looking Mages Guild members were asking some guards a few questions. Halion decided not to push his luck, and hurried down the Bridge, letting the Chameleon spell on his bag drop, as well as letting his eye color go back, but not wanting his hair to change at the moment.
Too obvious. he thought, as he made it to the halfway point of the Bridge, the day now lightening even more, the western sky tipped with orange, and a smile on the Altmer's face.
