Oblivion runs after FCOM installation (yay!) but...

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:31 am

Installed FCOM according to http://sites.google.com/site/oblivionpoinfo/walkthroughs/fcomguide's guide and the game actually started up fine, but while killing some rather docile mud crabs outside of the sewer at the beginning of the game, my character got stuck, or that's what I thought until I noticed that he was just moving VERY slowly. I noticed that before he got stuck, I was unable to run backwards. When I tried to, I would just move very slow. Now I can't move forward at all without encountering this problem. I tried loading the most recent save, and a save before that but it didn't help.I followed the guide to the letter except I forgot to uncheck OMOBS_SI and OMOBS listed in purple that says in the guide to uncheck. I unchecked them and proceeded to start a new game but this time I started to move slow while in my cell. What could be the cause? Should I just re-install oblivion? Please help. :ahhh:

Very sorry! Forgot the load order!

Do you have any contorller connected? Joystick, pad, or a steering wheel?

No, but I left the buseJoystick=1 option in the Oblivion.ini unchanged. Could this be the cause?

I doubt it if you do not have anything connected, but just try out ; )

No, should I?

Oblivion Stutter Remover has a feature which allows to slow motion the game if FPSs are low. This can be changed in the ini and it is active by default.
Well, you should install it of course, because it helps a lot with performances, but I don't know if it will help you with this issue.

From those pic you're doing something VERY wrong.
All those green, deselected files should be imported into your bashed patch, i.e. ticked in the merge section.
In fact, no not ALL of them as you've got almost every MMM_No XXXX.esp there so barely any MMM beasties will show up!

To post a load order correcly, right-click on the 'File' tab at the top and choose mod-list. This will give you a text box to copy into the thread here, complete with spolier code box tags

This helped, thanks a bunch! And thanks to everyone who offered there assistance, I really appreciate it! I was wondering though, where do you think FCOM is most likely to crash? I want to test it out more but I also wanted to start my own game but I don't want to run into an unfixable crash later in the game...

Check out the opening post in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1143831-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/. That you shouldn't use OMOBS Optional Combat Settings with FCOM is covered there for one thing. In this case the backward running penalty gets doubled as you already have that setting in Fran's.

I'd guess the most common mistake is not renaming the MMM.bsa correctly, which results in crashes and lots of missing meshes/textures.

Also, for future reference, post any FCOM related questions in the FCOM thread instead.
