Oblivion Screenshot Thread #18

He heh, I've never started one of these! I have three characters I'm going to share. Most of these are PC screenies, but sometimes I still use a digicam, just to get that natural, blurry effect.

The first guy I'm going to show is Snaat Rayag. He is a dark elf skooma dealer. He was my first PC character, and as I did a lot of experimenting with his gameworld (console and mods) he has become my 'test character' I guess you could say. Snaaty doesn't do any quests. At all. All he does is buy & sell skooma.

Snaat Rayag is a little creepy, to be honest. I enjoy his game though, for what it's worth. Now let's have a look at somebody more familiar.

Lady Saga has been with me since just before Skyrim came out. I created her to explore all the parts of Cyrodiil my others never got to, and I have made PS3, Xbox, and PC versions of her. In each picture, she has aged a little bit. The PS3 Saga was the typical 3rd Era / 433 game. By the time I created her on PC, it is now supposed to be the 4th Era / Year 5, and approximately 7 years have passed.

The effect of her aging is subtle, because elves are supposed to live a long time, but I've been bumping that slider to the right a little bit each time. The final Saga shot is from PC, but I got that one with a camera.

And the third (and final) character I'm going to introduce is Renee Gade III (RG3). I have created several Renee Gades over the years. RG1 is a TES1: Arena character, RG2 was on PS3, and did Fighter's Guild mostly. She died during Knights of the Nine. RG3 is my current PC character. Her game is supposed to be 20 years into the 4th Era, and so what I've done is add tons of mods to her gameworld to simulate the difference between 3rd Era and 4th Era.

Okay, so the very first RG3 picture is the way she originally looked before I did any changes to her face. And then the next picture after that shows her after she has become more 'finished'. She is supposed to resemble Xena. :woot:

When you finally post in the screenshot thread, you do it with a bang. Nice work. I’ve still got a bunch of your camera pics from years ago, along with Lady Mara’s and Berret’s camera shots. It’s good to see some of your PC character’s screenies, but you really out did yourself on the Warrior Princess and her sidekick Gabby. :goodjob:

Aww thanks. I'll try to post more in these threads because nowadays I do have quite a few pics saved on one of my computers.

RG3's armor, weapons, and Gabby are from a Xena mod (the only Xena mod) over at Nexus. It was my desire to make Renee Gade II look like Xena back in my PS3 days, but we can't put hairstyles with bangs in the vanilla game, http://i936.photobucket.com/albums/ad208/xenaclone/Image007-1.jpg back then.

I miss Lady Mara.

Whoo-hoo! Go, Renee! Go, Renee! :D

Nice set of pixies there and might I say I think you finally succeeded in making your character look how you wanted her to look from the very beginning :tops:

:thanks:

I want to ask tmar especially: how do you get rid of the jagged edges seen in pics, especially around the character or NPCs?

Renee: I use a NVIDIA graphics card. Right click on the desktop to bring up the NVIDIA control panel/ click 3D settings/ click adjust image settings/ click “let 3D application decide”.

Click to start the game and on the first menu click “Options”. Then set the Antialiasing to 8 samples (Highest quality).

Some jaggies don’t ever go away. I have problems with one part of Mooch’s wig and use a smoothing brush in PS to fix it. In some of my fiery fights there are some edges that have noticeable jaggies if you look real close. Sometimes I use a smoothing brush on them, but usually not. I think it’s caused by the mesh of the object being of lower resolution. Backlighting makes it worse. Some of the dresses at the Goddess Store look like they were cut out with a hatchet.

Left over from the old thread:

mirocu: The santa hat was still in storage at the time those screenshots were made on 16Nov and Mooch was still picking up Halloween pumpkins then.

On the Antialiasing...

You might be better off overriding the global setting for Oblivion, and letting the Nvidia software handle just the antialiasing. It's in the "Advanced" controls for 3D. I've found that I get better performance that way. Also, there are other antialiasing settings (I believe there's a separate control for transparent objects, which may affect some of the things that are still jaggy.) Worth experimenting with. You can have separate settings for different games.
